Poor analogy in this case. The wife's greed (if true) was prima facie in this matter, she could have walked out anytime - unlike a rape victim.
The analogy was the desire by some to blame the victim. Ive head excuses as lame as 'she could have walked out anytime' being used on a rape victim.

At the end of the day she was set up by criminals who stole everything her family has; Its going to take them years if ever to recover and I am sure that the people responcible feel no guilt for doing this because like some here she was a greedy bitch who could have walked away anytime and therefore asked for it.

There's a difference between giving your money away in hopes of getting a lot more back, and someone just forcibly/secretly taking the money from you. That is the key difference here. If there was a Darwin award for financial stupidity she would be a key contender. That said I do feel pity for her family.

^ you make is sound like there was no crime here, it was entirely her own fault. Very few crimes take place without some contribution from the victim, does that really stop a crime being a crime?

It is that attitude towards the victims of scams and swindles; that stops them from reporting the crimes and allows these 'robbin hoods' to part far more families from their money.

She participated in a crime and lost a lot of money by smarter criminals, that's all.

You're correct that victims of scams are shy about coming forward, can you think of a reason why?

That said, I think all of us have been tricked by others for one reason or another at some point in our lives and so I do not pretend to be better than this woman, but neither will I overlook the fact that her financial wound was mostly self inflicted.
