That wasn't always the way, of course. Phuket has aa lot of natural beauty, it's a shame the scumbag Thais and many scumbag foreigners screw the place over...

I was in Cha-am a couple of days ago, and you just don't get the exotic scenery that the likes of Phuket and Krabi provide. I'd go to Krabi.

Hi BB Yip many areas are crap. I think this was the point of the post. No doubt that lots of areas have been spoiled, but their is much that has not been, all you have to do is to steer clear of the crap areas. I definitely want to spend time in around Krabbi province next time over.

Fair point. In 20 years of holidaying/living here, I've had some of my best times, most exotic and beautifully mapped times, in and around Phuket.

About 15 years ago, I did a diving instructor certificate in Phuket; lived in Kata for 6 months - it was bloody great.

I'll get my Mrs to get you the address of her spot. She lived about a Km away from the camp! Laid back area away from tourist areas but still within easy reach of the beach and hot spots.

Like I said the roads are unreal. Send pm after work

    Here Steve

This the spot. Quality spot, Some of the places on the web page for Dragon are fine. My advice is to book some place for a week and then take your time to look around and see what other guys have found in the area. The area caters to the fight crowd. Tony Resaurant has rooms mbikes for rent and just about anything else.

JA JA across the road has better food. Tony serves huge helpings.

2home is easy walking distance to the Dragon camp down a quiet lane (soi) feels more like you are in Thailand. when renting a bike make sure they have the equivalent of Thai Road Tax. If you get stopped (which is a favorite pastime of the less than honest Phuket Police) you pay the fine.
