I understand that I missed the, clean water at Pattaya and the chance of scoring with some women some place else with nice beaches, but for some reason, I never thought about that very much.

Ok Bangyai!
Must admit as the day wore on I took fewer photos of a scenic nature.
So that was a day out, Cost less than $50 for a day in wonderland! Then back along the deserted beach to our private pool and beer and watch the evening light make its magic on this magic land.
Very nice pictorial from a road less travelled.
Thanks.
A real "wish you were here" quality thread S.I.T. . Great pics.
Of course the Thais are the major downside of Phuket. I'll stick with my 40 baht beer in Pattaya and sweet Filipina in Cebu.
I prefer Pattaya. First two times in Thailand I went to Phuket. But after I became bored of it. I live in BKK and if I want a nice beach I can head to Ko Larn or Ko Samet. Pattaya is always great for a weekend trip, it's just a 2 hours ride. I don't like the athmosphere of Phuket, too much hassle and all about money. Also the tourist mix is not my style and it's too expensive. Another issue is the climate: way too hot, in Pattaya it's a lot better. Also enjoy the crazy mix of people in Pattaya.
^ ya it's what you are looking for. I hate crowds and the bar scene! Came to Thailand to experience what we found, authentic Thai people, our own space, and incredible beauty. But each to their own, obviously many share your preference, other wise Pattaya would not exist.
I usual book using Agoda cheap rates, The rates we got at the KYY Village resort was a local promotion rate. 7 nights for 2 in a bungalow with a superb breakfast/brunch cost just over $300. That would get you 2 nights in Vancouver in a small box.
Don't disagree with the criticisms of Phuket, just that living with a local you see a different way of life than what the Patang tourist would! People often forget that Phuket is made up of several distinct towns and regions.
One of the things that was nice that the locals were friendly and showed no displeasure with us pointing cameras at them. This guy stopped and even offered us a ride on his buffalo. I know not up to the night life in P town but it was special to me.
My Mrs had an apartment near the fight camps, on a very quiet soi. The Big Budda was the backdrop. Could have been a million miles away from the crazy side of Phuket.
Big enough!
Then great coastline
Then in this tranquil, near deserted spot, a sad reminder of the terror and lasting pain that was inflicted on so many literally out of the blue.
Not everyone likes the simple stuff, Phuket has its fair share of good hotels in great locations. The Cape Sienna has been in the headlines of late, it is a fantastic hotel in the small resort village of Kamilla. Yes and it has jet ski's. Very scenic and quiet.
That is the CS hotel on the bluff behind.
No filters used
I know boring, not like ............ But for us this is what we want when we visit Thailand.
