    Canon 50D - A major upgrade

Just 12 months after the introduction of the EOS 40D, Canon has launched the EOS 50D.

There is a 50% increase in resolution, from 10.1 to 15.10 megapixels. The maximum burst in continuous shooting has increased from 75 to 90 JPEGS. The maximum ISO setting is now 12800, rather than 3200.

New features include a HDMI connection for high quality viewing and playback on high definition televisions, plus Face Detection Live AF.

Also new is the Creative Auto shooting mode. This goes a step beyond Full Auto (Green Square) mode, allowing users to make adjustments before shooting while still in automatic mode.
Launched at the same time is the EF-S 18-200mm f3.5-5.6 IS lens, compatible with the EOS 50D and other models with the EF-S mount. It has a 4-stop image stabilizer to help reduce the effects of camera shake at the telephoto end of its 11x zoom range.
Quite a step up from the 40D which was only a minor upgrade from the 30D (which is what I have). I'm still hoping for a 6D and what that will bring. 3 years since the launch of the 5D it should be pretty spectacular.

Canon 5D mkII is very spectacular, agree with you. completely out of my budget at the moment though. considering getting one of extremely cheap (how come they can sell them for this silly price?) Nikon D40. they are sold on uk amazon for £220 together with 18-55 lens. anyone got this cam already? my biggest concern is the size (or lack of it) of the cam. i got pretty big hands and my current cam panasonic lumix fz7 is just too tiny for me.
