    Photoshop Help for KM

I posted in Scampy's thread before and got lots of help...but his thread seems to have died a natural death and as there might be on-going needs I thought I'd start this one...

I normally try to do what I want in PS first but I'm not very proficient at using the different tools there so wonder if anyone can help me here.

I want everything gone from the pic except the monk and his cane, together with the tiger and the rocks in the background...if there was an explanation/tutorial of how it was done a la Dr.Bob's thread that would be most appreciated...

^ Jeez! You're not asking much, are you?!

Get a hi res copy to me and I'll see what I can do, but I'm not going to attempt it on a lo-res image like that.

Agree. Hi res much better. KM, you might try the clone tool but will be a lot of work. Make a duplicate layer before you try.

Question, do you really NEED the same background? If not then one of the lasso/cut/erase tools might work on a separate layer. Tedious though.

Check your settings. Mode: Normal, Opacity:100%, Flow:100%, check aligned. Airbrush and if you think it looks best.

Print it out, cut round the Monk and tiger, glue it on to a picture of rocks or mountains, rescan it?

An example using Photoshop Elements (low grade version of PS) which doesn't have all the dodads of the larger program. Took about 8 minutes

Using the lasso, draw around the subject carefull. its a pain in the ass actually.

    Control C (copy)
Open a new photo with the background you want and Control V (paste)

Then go the eraser and select, then you can adjust the size of the eraser to fit the need at the time. Patience will reward you.

I did this just as proof of principle.... good luck and yes you do need a high res copy of the original your cutting out.

Another way is to open a new layer with a white background or any contrasting background to the colors in the photo and past the object on that. Do the erasing and then copy and past to the new photo.

Nice one Marmite, i doubt i'd have the patience to do that. Though i know who to contact if i need the help and two beers seems like a fair price.

How long did it take you anyway?
