"Inspiring Thailand" photo contest organized by TCEB

"Inspiring Thailand" photo contest organized by TCEB
    Oct 02, 2013

BANGKOK, Thailand - Thailand Convention & Exhibition Bureau (TCEB) would like to invite those interested in photography - professionals & amateurs -- to enter a photo contest with the theme: "Inspiring Thailand."

Director Sarita Chintakanond of Information Technology Department, TCEB stated that, "From our research, we found that photos are the most influential medium for MICE professionals in choosing a business events destination. We are seeking the most inspiring photo that would make meeting & event planners want to come and hold their next business event in Thailand. Thus this is not just an ordinary photo contest, but also a photographic mission for the benefit of the country."

The photos will be included in various PR materials when promoting Thailand. The submitted photos will be yet another inspiration among worldwide meeting planners to choose Thailand as a destination.

There will be three monetary awards for the 1st place winner in each category (Culture, Attraction, and Lifestyle), taking home a cash prize of 15,000 THB each plus a hotel voucher valued at 15,000 THB. Awards are limited to one prize per entrant.

A panel comprised of 70% TCEB representatives will judge the images on a range of factors; 30% will be based on the voting that each participant achieves. The winning photos will be announced on www.BusinessEventsThailand.com and/or www.facebook.com/businesseventsthailand.com on 15th November, 2013.

The submission period runs from 14th September -- 31st October, 2013; the deadline for entries is 23.00 Thailand time on the 31st of October.

Contest participants may submit as many photos as they like, provided they pertain to the theme; they must be original works captured with a digital still camera. Scans of old photos that were taken by film cameras are not accepted.

Now there's a sign of the times.

It saddens me as I used to develop and print my own negatives and prints in my own darkroom many years ago. Something has been lost.

It is an interesting subject. Years ago we used to use film, print the photos and keep them in an album. Nowadays? Files on a computer. I have probably only printed half a dozen photos in the last 5 years (ocassionally with decent ones, I will print and frame). Albums are a thing of the past, and in 20 years time, where will all those photos be? Lost, junked and gone for ever.

I feel inspired to post some of my photos.

Maybe I can get away with it on the artwork thread.
