@katie
My fillipina friends taught me ....a rhyme, which I have forgotten.
It was about when Aquino landed in Manila on the fatal day.
Letters of 'San Miguel' was used and the 'a' was probably Aquino, the 'g' Galman and so on.
Can you help ?
We have the same with Carlsberg: Carl Anker Rasmussen Ligger Stadig Bevistløs Efter Rejse Gildet
(Carl Anker is still unconsious after the Topping Up Ceremony)
I'm blind in my right eye, so the pic looks ok to me..
Nothing wrong with that picture....or the posting.
One of the things I've found weird here is that there's no seagulls...no seabirds of any kind.
Thread is looking good and shaping up nicely Tops
Super
Smashing
Great
I concur.
I'm almost getting tempted to visit.
Keep the pics coming Tops!
Sorry, helge. I don't know the rhyme or song - it was before my time.
Now that I think of it, Ninoy Aquino returning to PH was a bit like Alexei Navalny returning to Russia. Why did they return, knowing that they would probably be killed or incarcerated?
But then, N. Aquino''s death led to a chain of events, ending the 20-year Marcos Sr's reign. Let's see if Navalny's death will have as much impact (in Russia), on the long run.
But maybe we'll all be kaput by then - since Iran has now declared war on Israel. (sigh)
Anyway, on with topper's vacay thread.

Speaking of birds, there's no seagulls or pelicans here that I've seen. There's plenty of birds, just not seashore type birds.
Also, there's no 7-11's here, just small sari-sari type shops, which is a win for me.
And lucky for us, the local church started punching out the tunes at 180db this morning. Thankfully it was at 6:00am which warmed both the wife and I's heart.
"I was a good student. I comprehend very well, OK, better than I think almost anybody," - President Trump comparing his legal knowledge to a Federal judge.
I blame it on alcohol, I'm normally a beer drinker but gin and tonics fit the beach a touch better.
This morning's breakfast pictures...Hungry Beach Food Park. It's a mixture of resto/canteens, whatever on the beach, oddly enough.
Our view
The beach looking west...
The beach looking east...
With a lanteen rigged sailboat in the middle.

Nothing like rocking Church tunes at 6:00am… lazy fuckers. Are youse on holidays or something?
Beauty is in the eye of the beer holder perhaps? I've personally found the Filipinas to be very easy on the eye

A glorious last day...we're off on the boat back to Negros at 10 in the morning....another three hour tour. I'll post up some pictures of today's adverntures whe we get back. I'm sunburnt and frankly exhausted, but in a way that builds someone up. I'm very happy here and can't wait to return.
Fantastic stuff Topper glad you and Mrs Topper had a great holiday. It's truly a beautiful country.
@topper - glad that you & Mrs Tops had a nice vacay. Some suggestions for your next short vacay:
Panglao island - small island off Bohol. There are 2 main beaches: Alona & Dumaluan(?). I stayed at the latter & visited the former. Accdg to Takeovers (his wife is from Bohol & he's visited several times since the 80s or 90s), there may be varying amounts of seaweed on Alona beach, depending on the time of year. I visited in August & there was some seaweed on Alona beach but not on the other beach.
Siquijor island - some distance from Dumaguete. I've heard that it's becoming the new Siargao or Bali - getting popular among the young foreign crowd of backpackers & digital nomads.
^ thanks ya'll
My newest resto idea is to have a menu of what can be prepared today. We went to a shop today tha features sub sandwiches, only to be told it would take 30 minutes to bake the bread as they had none fresh. The owners were complete dicks as well..the Italian guy Micky and his wife seriously pissed me off.
We went to a resto we saw this morning for dinner that had sausage rolls on sale...supposedly. Of course, of stock.
Grat stuff Tops enjoy
Do they have farng size lifebelts/lifesavers as you know I'm even bigger than you, and in this PC age what is a native of Negros called please?
