    Another panorama shot

After I left Sabang beach, my face was :not impressed: Remember the American gymnast who became a meme because of her "not impressed" face? I guess my expression was a bit like that. Lol. But, please remember that I have been to Boracay, and saw Aplaya Munti and other beaches, and to see Sabang beach like that, was a let-down, so to speak.

So I got back to my driver and asked him to take me to the other waterfalls, Aninuan Falls. To be continued...

@BLD - you should return to PG, even if just to meet your old flames! Are you sure there aren't any junior BLDs running around PG or the Visayan islands? If there are, they must be grownups now, no? [/QUOTE] When I was gallavanting around there all those years ago, Sex was considered safe and Diving was considered dangerous. But it's quite possible.i did occasionaly let the ferret out for a run

    Hi Katie

I have been doing some further research on Dumaguete & the island of Negros provinces. Might be better to go a bit further with that before I bother you. Think better if I pm later. Ok?

By the way your photos are just fine IMHO. Beautiful bay, that Mindoro, eh?

    Good thread

Have given me an excuse to dig out my pics/dias from Puerto Galera/Sabang anno 87-88.

The beach looked better then, (and so did I)

@biff - new word for me today, ferret. I thought it was.just a verb. Didn't know abt the animal.

@bld - if I return to PG or go to Dumaguete & I see a mestiza/mestizo looking young adult, I'll ask her/him if the mom had a summer fling w/ a hansum aussie man many years ago. Heh...

@grasshopper - ya, u can send a PM later. Pls be specific w/ ur question so that I won't ask stupid questions to my boss. She's a busy lady, and so am I. Lol. She goes to the province ~2x/year to visit her aging parents.

@helge - pls feel free to post ur photos of PG from way back. Would be interesting to see before/after pics. Even of yourself!

When I saw White Beach in Boracay, my impression was WOW! When I saw Sabang beach recently, my reaction was Bleh...

That being said, Sabang has its appeal for the divers, party ppl & others. I have some pics of Sabang from the boat ride home, and the place didn't look too bad, coming frm the sea. Will try to post pix later.

K, frm fone, sory for d typos

    Hi Katie23,
We use the word ferret as a colloquialism..

    an assiduous search for something.
"he had a quick ferret around"
Also ferrets like Guinea pigs get into everything..
    Guinea Pig..
a domesticated tailless South American cavy, originally raised for food. It no longer occurs in the wild and is now typically kept as a pet or for laboratory research.
A person or thing used as a subject for experiment.

Ferret was also a word used by Allied Prisoners of War to describe the German guards who were tasked with creeping around the camp sniffing out escape attempts.

@biff - I knew abt ferret, meaning to search. Didn't know abt the animal.- quite cute it is. I wonder if I could smuggle one into my hometown? Heh... (just kidding - goes against my principle of not bringing in invasive species)

@davis - thanks for the WW2 reference. Most that I know abt WW2 is about the war in the Pacific & not in the Atlantic or Europe. My history lessons in school were biased - concentrated on PI & Asian history. Knew about D-day, Rommel the desert fox, Dr. Mengele & other stuff only a few years ago, as an adult! Live & learn.

@bld - I was gonna ask which occasion but on second thought, I don't want to know.

Ok, will try to post a few pics. Let's see if my net cooperates.

So, after the visit to Sabang beach, my next stop was Aninuan Falls. Barangay (village) Aninuan is in the same direction of White Beach, which is west of Muelle Pier and Sabang.

The bike driver stopped here to show me the view of White Beach in PG from the highway. It was a Tuesday morning and all the weekenders had left. The beach was deserted, quite different from when I was there Sunday afternoon. Great views.

At that point along the highway, an Italian resto was under construction.

I think these steps lead down to the beach below, but I didn't try due to lack of time (and I was a bit scared since there were no rails. lol)

I saw a goat too! Actually there were two, but I only got a pic of one. They were shy.

I could've walked down to get a better pic of the goats, but I valued my life more than the goats, so that pic would have to suffice!

After several kilometers, we came to this junction in the highway. Aninuan is on the road to the left.

So we entered that road, then reached the end of the road after ~2 km. The road on the right leads to Aninuan Falls. We left the motorbike somewhere here.

This is the other view - the road leading to the main highway.

The staff at the resort said that there's a ~30-minute walk to reach the falls, so I knew I could handle it. Start of the trek!

That's D, my motorbike driver/guide. There's a woman doing the wash in the distance; we passed by her.

Some parts were a bit uphill.

It's still the same creek, just upstream.

At last we saw the sign for the waterfalls. Yay!

The falls was deserted. There was only one guard/caretaker. I paid the fees but didn't get a receipt. Well, I guess I contributed to his coffee fund. I don't think it's a large fund, so it's alright.

This is Aninuan Falls. It's a small one, but its size didn't matter to me. (Heh). I enjoyed the trek, the creek and the views. Sweated along the way too, so all good. Another heh.

A closer shot. My guide said that some people are disappointed after seeing this falls, since it's a small one. I wasn't, since as I've said before, I enjoyed the journey and not just the destination.
