A visit to SILVERLAKE WINERY
Chonburi province's first vineyard and winery is just a few hundred feet from Buddha Mountain. The winery, built by a famous movie actress Surachai Tangjaitrong, is surrounded by a large lake which turns silvery in color at dusk, thus, the name Silverlake.
It makes sense to combine a visit to Buddha Mountain (Khao Chee Chan Buddha Image) since they are just a few hundred feet down the same access road. From Pattaya South Road (aka Pattaya Tai Road) go south on Sukhumvit Road for 14 km/15 min. (8.6 mi.) past a sign pointing to Wat Yanasangwararam (Yan). About 700 yards beyond the Wat Yana sign, turn left at the next signal light. Go about 5 km (3 mi) and you will see Buddha Mountain on the right, the winery is just a few hundred further down the road.
This is the intersection you are looking for. This is the second Wat Yana… turnoff and look for the signal light, seen in background, turn left and go about 3 ˝ miles, past Buddha Mountain .
Silverlake is a very new facility with plans for a modern winery next to the lake with its own tasting room. For now, there is a nice restaurant (Silverlake Wine and Grill), with horse and carriage tours of the vineyard and surrounding areas, a large event area with a natural amphitheatre for festivals and concerts.
Inside the restaurant includes what will be a tasting room. I don’t believe it’s finished yet.
There is a full menu restaurant in operation now and it seems very popular, especially on the weekends.
This is a sitting area just outside the restaurant. Pizza is sold in a separate small building next to this sitting area. You can order from the restaurant menu or get a pizza.
Food prices are moderate/high for Thailand, with most items in the $8 - $10 range.
The wine list prices start at about $45 per bottle.
Directly across the street from the restaurant is the large event area with a natural amphitheatre.
You can see the vineyards in the distance and the gardens are open to the public. There is no charge for the garden/restaurant areas.
Bus tours taking people to Buddha Maintain stop here to let tourists let off a little steam.
There are a number of covered tables where you can enjoy the vendor food and drink and enjoy the views overlooking the lake/gardens.
Here you can see Buddha Mountain in the distance.
This is a very family friendly area.
There are a number of options to tour the vineyards. Walking through the vineyard costs 10 baht ($0.35), Trolley Cars 70 BAHT ($2.40), ATV 250 – 450 baht ($8.25 – 15.50)
Combining Buddha Mountain with the Silverlake Winery makes for a nice day trip. There is no charge for Buddha Mountain and the wine area can be free or enjoy a nice meal and a glass of wine.
