Pattaya Jomtien & The Russian Influx

I keep hearing how the Russians are coming in droves to Pattaya and Jomtien, this has been going on for about 5 years now, many of the local restaurants here in Jomtien have Russian menus, but looking at the Sattahip page there is still only one flight per week coming from Russia to Utapao Airport, these mainly stay at the Ambassador Hotel which is like 15km away from Jomtien or Pattaya Park hotel.

So we got maybe 300 ruskies coming perweek and loads of businesses no where near where they stay targetting them, all seems a waste of time to me.

Bugger the scenery, standing amongst the myriad of Russian types at Swampy is akin to hanging out at the gym.....they do bathe occasionally, yes?

The Russians are a completely different type of tourist in that they usually bring their own women so they do not care about the bars and nightclubs. That only leaves the nice restaurants to carter to them and the shopping centers.

That Utapao Airport remodeling was another Pattaya waste of money along the lines of the Walking Street sign.

Heaps all over the tourist spots of Thailand, south of BKK anyway. And who can blame them, if I was from Russia I'd be here too.

Was just down in Koh Chang for a few days, heaps down there, probably 1/3 of all the whiteys.

Seemed alright, keeps themselves to themselves and none were going around shirtless with football tatts, skulling beer chang by the can outside the 7s, and shouting 'fuck' and 'shit' 5 times in every sentence. Mostly they're well kept, and show basic respect for self and others. Which generally makes them far less embarrassing to be associated with than most other whiteys.

It's good to have a higher class of farang coming here.

Presumably they all came down from outside airports too as I don't think Trat has a direct flight to Moscow.

When I was last at the Royal Cliff resort in Pattaya visiting a mate in the most expensive wing, I was surprised to see that this was comfortably over 50% full of Russki's (or Ukrainians or whatever) too.

Pattaya has most certainly changed- the traditional beer bar and GoGo tourist that was the old mainstay is a declining slice of the pie these days. Given the rampant oversupply of beer bars everywhere, it seems many business operators are still living in denial about this.

I should've clarified that it was full of ignorant Russian bastards and a handful of ignorant English bastards with an ignorant bastard Dane and an ignorant Aussie bastard along for good measure.
