    Unfriendly Go Go Bars

It seems to me and my friend that the gogo bars in pattaya are becoming much more unfriendly over the past 5 or 6 years. An example. My friend went into Classroom gogo a few nights ago. We had previously been surprised at the increase in prices throughout Pattaya and we had decided to tip accordingly...that is 10 bahts for a drink. After sitting in the Classroom Gogo for about 10 minutes my friend decided to leave. There was only one other Farang and the place was full of ladies ...none of whom had gone near my friend. The bill was 110 baht. So my friend left a 100 bhat note and two 10 bhat coins (that is a 10 bhat tip) As he stood up to leave the lady put his money into the container , started to rattle the coins in it loudly and kept yelling.."CHEAP, CHEAP!" so that everyone in the var started to stare.
My friend who is usually quite fortright was so taken aback that he couldn't speak and simply went outside. I thought this was a little rude. Can you imagine this happening in a bar in the real world?? I didnt know if I should have laughed or cried at this! What do you think??

I couldn't really agree more with that. Except I've not actually ever been there. Not even once. And, frankly, I have absolutely zero desire to either.

This happended to me once, i went back over and made out that i was going to swap the 20 baht note i had left for a 100. I snatched the 20 back and left leaving them with nothing. Som nam fcking na kap.
I hate this idea that people are entitled to something, if service is good a tip will follow....but it has to be earned in someway IMHO. Just because i walk thorugh the front door is not reason enough to expect a tip.

Its not just Pattaya tho', the attitude in Go Go's has been declining for many years, In most of them, evn just 10 years ago, you brought a girl one drink and ya got ya willy stroked and maybe got a finger in the pussy. Try that now, although I got to say not been in a Go Go for 2 years, never very keen on them at the best of times.
There can’t be good living where there is not good drinking

yeah the service is going down and the prices are going up

Most of those gogos are getting killed financially in the last 3 or 4 years because of the early closing hours

Except in America. They will chase you down the street if you don't leave them between 10-25% of the bill. Cheeky bastards.

Did you seriously sit down and decide beforehand how much you were going to tip?... How anal is that??.... what if the service had been excellent? you were just going to tip 10 Bhat per drink?

    Agree,
The problem is though when leaving generally pissed up a bit and feel a bliged to leave a tip. Get pissed off though when change could come in 50 or 100 baht notes but thy give it to you in 20's expecting a tip. Fu we've already paid pricey drinks and all they're doing is bringing them,

Took a few mates to see the show at Polo(s) - we sat at stools right near the stage. My mate didnt want to tip a lady that shoved her pussy in his face. She got pissed plucked out a few pubes and tossed it in his drink.

Worth jumping on a baht bus from Soi 6 to get to, but hardly worth visiting Pattaya for as a whole.

That's because you lack training and falling asleep in your little Northern village

a few nights in Pattaya and you would be alive again

its all the yanks fault for introducing a tipping culture into thailand.

this is a real 3 hour lecture topic for me I dont see why i should have to pay a tip to get served a beer and ignored by the "friendly" help

oh yes, dont get me started at the up market places that include a tip in their prices then STILL have a tip box.
You dont pay them to stay for the night, you pay them to leave in the morning

    Full stop.

Wherever the American army goes go-go/hostess bars spring up. Thailand, Korea, Philipines, Vietnam, Cambodia. THe chinese spread prostitution quite thoroughly though Asia but the Americans made it stand out.

Be interesting to know it they are going to appear in Iraq or not.

Yes!! He had been so pissed off by the whole tipping system that he was ready for them!! Usually they will give you your change in 20 bahts notes. Considering that generally they are such dumb f wits they have a calculator in their brains when it comes to giving change. Regardless of what change you are owed they ALWAYS give you it in such a way that a fairly large tip is inevitable. However, my friend had a few 10 baths coins ready in his pocket for that evening. The fact that their "cunning little plan" had been scuppered probably lead to a loss of face (and of Money) It is not "anal" when you get one over on them!! Lets face it..110 bhat for a drink already gives trhem quite a large profit.

Laugh because staff like that are too stupid to breathe.

There's a handful of nice gogos on soi pattayaland 2 owned by an american who keeps his staff in line. Jupiter is the name of one, I forget the other names but has about 6 gogos on that street.
You would never get that sort of treatment. Also the ladies are trained not to become possessive if you take one out one night and try a different another night.

Pattaya can be plenty of fun. There are so many venues and some quite good. And so many lady fresh out of the jungle.

Actually happened to me a number of years back in manhattan.
A few of us had been out and about and in the one bar I paid the bil with a credit card. Having had a few the adding up of bill and tip became a bit too much and in error left $0.46 on a fairly substantial bill.

Not only the waiter came running after me down the street but the maitre d' as well
