    Carlos Pizzeria at View Talay

I am not sure if this place comes under Pattaya or Jomtien, if you go down thepasit road towards Jomtien you then turn right towards Pattaya and it is 100 meters up there on the right, This is at view Talay 1, there are a about 5 differant view talay condos in Pattaya and Jomtien so the guy is making the big bucks.

For some reason it seems this restaurant has 2 names, the other is Secret Garden.

The menu is quite extensive and seemed a bit pricey when we got the old 80baht spagetti place up the road, I mean 90baht for a bottle of beer does seem a bit much to mind, but hell this is a classy place, well so we thought.

The place is actually covered by a tent, to my mind that must have saved a considerable amount of money in investment in actually building something, but it is quite a nice tent, well as tents go I suppose, unfortuneately they had hundreds of potted plants for the mossies to hide in, and the lighting wasn't good enough to see the poxy things when they started biting, so now I probably have malaria or dengue fever, plus less money than I should have.

You don't see chandeliers like that in normal tents

Anyway I ordered the Pork Chop in white wine and garlic sauce, this was 220baht, The chop was bigger than anything I have seen in Foodland and was really tender and full of flavour, well it would be I suppose covered in some cheap and nasty white wine and garlic, I mean the wines used for cooking aint from the best vineyards are they, luckily that it was tender as the knives they supplied wernt designed for cutting or slicing anything, I mean they couldn't even cut the colzone, that had to be ripped apart viciously with forks, anyway more about the colzone latter, here is my beasty pork chop, just wish I knew how they got it so tender.

The tomato had been carved to perfection and looked really great, obviously nobody eats these so the odds are that it had been on 10 plates before mine, so I chopped it in half so they couldn't use it again

They even have a traditional pizza oven behind the bar, no idea why as you just cant beat the controlabilty of a nice gas oven, also I should imagine it is quite difficult to keep a concrete oven clean.

This place is opposite the world reknowned Pan Pan pizza place, although I think if your spending the sort of money secret gardens charges you may aswell goto panpan, anyway more on the food later on

anyway my friend ordered for his first dish Scaloppine al Marsala (escalopes with Marsala wine) 240 Baht.

Now this guy doesn't eat anything spicey at all, ie no chilli and no garlic, but this was so bland he had to cover it in vinegar just to give it some flavour, I might add that he didn't chop his decorative tomato in half so 10 more diners got the benifit of that one on their plate

Now this may look like a Cornish Pastie to most of us but it aint, it is a pizza of some sort, in dago lingo= Calzone Classico, with ham, mozzarella, anchovies and salami 240 Baht.

This I thought was quite nice, but then I aint an Italian food expert and me mate is and he said it was crap, anyway next week is view talay 2 week that has some German restaurant there, go down soi theprasit and turn left this time towards Jomtien Beach

I always wondered why they put just a few fries (chips) on the plate in Thailand? When I had a steak I had to order extra fries as a side dish to not walk away still hungry.

    View Talays Trattoria Italian Restaurant

For some reason the Italian restaurant has changed its name to Trattoria, also seems they have brought the prices down quite a bit aswell, on the small board they had a load of stuff under 150baht, can't be too bad

I've bin to that one three times DD, and whilst I am here to tell the tale and all that, I prefer that Tatty one over the Hill, on the corner where that naughty Jade bar is allegedly located if you venture further down the Soi.

This restaurant is pretty decent, but I always thought the same... Pan Pan is a sure quality meal, so may as well go there. In my opinion, no place in Pattaya beats Pan Pan pizza.

    Good pizza there

Thank you for report. But what is weird is that you don't seem to know that a pizza couldn't be good if it was not cooked in wooden fire oven ?!

Never been to Italy or France ?!

They usually do those thin cardboard-like pizzas in their 'authentic' wood ovens. The 2 best pizzas I ever had were in electric ovens.

Yep, but much the same as the Italian restaurant in this thread, I didn't go there to eat pizza, infact I don't think in the last 10 years I have gone to a restaurant to eat or order pizza, bit like going to kfc and dining in on chicken nuggets, I haven't stooped that low yet
