Love seeing these old pics and comparing them to now, the photo labelled Road to Pattaya Beach '66/67 has the Amari hotel on the left and Dusit Thani on the right these days. There can't be too many pics from the early days floating around though, the same ones keep being circulated.
He moved back to Blighty and made one guest appearance there for his fan-club.
^And despite his claim otherwise, a knob jockey.
Well, certainly a colorful character. Saw him around Pattaya a couple of times- you could hardly fail to notice him- but we never spoke.
I bet it seems like yesterday to some posters. Looks a lot more relaxed in the old days.
I love this one, what's the story here?
I want to go to the CORAL REEF supper club.
Simpler times.

The bloke in that photo looks like a legendary Pattaya monger, Patrick. Five decades on, he's still at it- no idea where he gets his money from, but he sure knows where he likes to spend it!
No, never met him either. He likes the more testosterone charged places. He is 'homesick' for Pattaya right now, but stuck in UK.
And the car on the right is a HQ Holden- worth a bomb these days.
Is Abbey's bar (spelling?) on Walking Street with the good Indie music still going?
My first visit to Pattaya was 35 years ago and the growth of the city has been both unbelievable and undesirable.
I do hope they clean up the bright-side removing most of the seedy shit, redevelop walking street and clean up the beaches.
^^ Seriously don't know mate- for a start, haven't been there for about two years, but also hardly ever went to Walking St.
There were still a couple of bars in WS putting on good live music last I knew- ie pre-Covid.
Blues Factory is one, but that charges for the privilege. It often features the semi-legendary Liam Morrison.
Another was free & on the main drag, and saw some surprisingly good stuff there- sometimes just walking past.
^personally, I would not like to see the seedy side totally extinguished LT- it's Historic! But as you know, most of the mongering these days is around Soi Bukhao, I suppose Yodsak too.
WS is mainly for tourists to gawk and be ripped off, Soi 7 & 8 are dead n gone. Naklua is for our teutonic cousins, & of course gay Jomtien and Boyztown.
There is something for everyone.
When people still wore long pants instead of wannabe-surfer board shorts and wife-beaters . . .
Wonder what those two are up to these days.
^ working in the massage place next door.
In '64 Pattaya was spelled with one 'T' according to some of the photo's. Is that a mistake or what?
Its spelled 3 or 4 different ways just on the way from BKK to Pattaya.
^And pronounced 3 or 4 different ways too, by both locals and foreigners.
