House reantal price in Chiang Rai?

    As the title states...

What do folks pay in the area for either an apartment or preferably a smallish house (doesn't have to be flash, just functional)? The central or Northern areas within the city are of particular interest.

    Wink

Trad wooden house are still from 3-6k depends on size and location and whether you want to live 'cheek by jowl" with neighbours noise.

I've lived in some noisy place inc Italy, Shanghai S Francisco and Bangkok but cannot match rural Thailand with soi dogs, pigs, chickens unsilenced motor bikes, speaker vans and drunk yokels on tractors of all kinds at all hours, luckily we built a detached home with good neighbours far enough to not hear theor farts or tvs which are usually at max

There are many many ugly new 3 floor town houses near the airport and on the new eastern ring road not for me, but many unoccupied.
Traffic is nowhere near Bangkok or C Mai levels so with a car you can be anywhere in 30m. It is a linear city around 5 miles wide and 15 miles long.

Ban Du is the area North of Makro with benefit of a huge new BIG c mall with usual other stores and a multi screen.
It os about 5km north of the old city on the main road to Mae Sai which is only an hour if you need a border bonce or duty free shopping in Burma.

Iy has the Ma Fah Luang University hospital, Singha Park, the annual Flower festival and very good Food wishes Italian deli

If I had a car Ban Du would suit me it has plenty of free parking (it raiins a lot) that is where would look in one of the sois, if without a car the west of the clock tower just beyond the city market there are some nice sois, I have never rented in the city so unsure of going rates there.

Is it just residential a business for you or family?
I will be there tomorrow pm is you wish
I live about 90 minutes away.
Here in the sticks plenty of small units 3k up
for 10k can get a decent size detached house with a garden/parking a few cars.
May I add from personal experience a tropical garden is a lot of work, it's not the growing but cutting back, pest control but we do have lots of lovely produce.

    ^ red sent.

^^ nice site, thanks. The first one at only 7,000 baht per month looks great although I'm not sure about the Rim Kok area... Next time I'm back in Thailand the Honda City will be given a road trip to Chiang Rai, checking out the potential. I'm thinking around June 2024.
    Cycling should be banned!!!
