Was there a requierment to quote considering you were the very next post or is it a ego thing
It has been a long time since spelling bees.
How ever the good point I got to increase my post by one towards the magic 100 and I understand why you have such a large post number.
Is it Simiam or Similam or is it all in the interpretation.
Good another post.
Cheers mate I'm really getting some posts done.
I was just interested in some other information like do the bars have accommodation, whats on the menu both food and beverage and to a lesser degree price.
Are there specialty nights like an open mic night or a pool comp extra.
Is there an opportunity for day trips.
PS, I did get a lot from you photos the White Inn looks like the place to stay excellent value.
Cheers.
Geez all I asked for was some friendly info on Nong Khai not enter slanging match on my spelling ability
Nong Khai doesn't have a party or p4p scene which is falang orientated. I'd skip it if that is what you want. There are a couple of bars (Brendan's and one opposite) with pool tables down at the Rim Kong, west of the market on the riverside. Just winner stays on - no competitions.
Brendan's, Apple's, and Beer Belly Billy's (2km east of the market) do decent western food.
Loads of accommodation available - google's your friend for that.

Oh, there are plenty of pissheads here - just most can take their drink (apart from the Scandahooligans). It's too small a place to be running amok in. Those that do have often been taken away and deposited by the BiB 20 km away in the middle of the countryside.
Sounds good I don't like the in your face spots like Pattaya or Bangkok just looking for a new place for a short visit and may be a quick trip to Laos.
I plan to go up on an over night train in late December for about 5 or 6 days.
And thank you for you input.
I'm afraid that Laos is not worth the effort. It's a somewhat downmarket version of Thailand and is rather scruffy. I've been but wouldn't go again.
You should see the statue park, all the temples and make a point of eating at the restaurant which specialises in Vietnamese spring rolls. We have friends there and it's a toss up between Nong Khai and the much busier Udon Thani as my retirement home in the years to come.
I have lived and worked in Pattaya and enjoyed it but the dickheads cannot be avoided and it isn't the place for anybody who has more than half a brain. Short breaks there are fine but living there permanently would turn me into a total turnip like most of the farangs there.

All I asked for was some information and by the way thanks to every one so far it has been fantastic.
