^I think pumpkin pie is a staple during their Thanksgiving holiday.

Re: the cold, I'm similar to your wife. If the office A/C is at 22 degrees, I'll get a hoodie/ sweater. Re: I liked the 1st snow but didn't like the rest of the winter - long, dark & dreary days.

I bet you would. Thankfully Mendy has not. Having met the young lady my wife says she is easier to understand than her dad.

As for Perth, as I understand there's winter too but doesn't reach 0 degrees and no snow. Also, I think TH to Perth is nearer than TH to UK? (cost for airfare, etc). An advantage of Perth is that "Uncles" BLD and Terry can watch over her sometimes. I think the younger son of BLD is similar in age to your daughter.

@BLD - have your sons lost their Filipino accent? You said before that your sons were developing a Filipino accent due to the teachers in the Int'l School in Laos. Are they now saying "G'day mate. Let's have shrimp on the barbie!"
Ha ha yeah , now they talk in aussie slang. Confuses the hell out of Mrs bld . She looks at them.like there speaking Swahili or some shit. I can understand em.though. yesterday my young bloke told me I was a bit of a fucking wombat. Yes. There into.profanity to. They didn't get that from me. Probably youtubesteak. Or all those games they play? Fucknose. I've tried to point out that Profanity is the linguistic crutch of the inarticulate motherfucker. Hope they take that advice on board,

Yeah, my wife doesn't understand me either mate.

Oh, she understands my words, but just not me, it seems.

Edit: Mike, we must meet up some time as well. My daughter certainly wants to thank you for the many gifts you have sent... well, the ones that made it through Quality Control anyway.

    Good one

Daughter started with her "Oh Crap !" some six month ago.

Wife never raised an eyebrow until a couple of weeks ago, when I told her that it was..swearing.

She mistook it for some of her favorite seafood.

    Fair enough, I'd say

Nothing like eddy/lu, the village gossip. Fills that role fairly well.

It's one of the cute things about Thailand, go into a fast food branch or whatever and they've got songs with shit and fuck on the sound system.

i will not let such a spiteful vitriolic attack upset my good humour today, the first Eng Test of 2024 and in India - i'm sure my good start to the day will soon dissipate when Eng are down 3 wickets inside ten overs but i'll not let a little poisonous Mercan who spent most of his life pigeonholed in "Rangsit!!!!" upset me.

I've got a feeling that the best thing to come from that is the inspiration to go for a curry for lunch.

You called it. From 55 for no wicket to 60 for 3.

This thread seems to have gone a bit wayward, so to bring it back on track until our next elephant expedition here's my second Pak Chong pumpkin.

I'm going to make pumpkin pie... never even tried it before but 340 million Americans can't all be wrong.

For a free Green, guess how much the pumpkin cost?

Nah, I'm not going through that again.

Chopped up and peeled. I've saved seeds to grow in the veggie plot.

    Boiled up and blended.

And a bowl of pumpkin sludge, otherwise known as pumpkin puree. It does look a bit sloppy but will maybe firm up a bit in the oven.

I've run out of time now, but I think that tomorrow I'll be stirring in eggs, milk and sugar, and making pastry for a delicious Saturday night pumpkin pie.
