He has changed his mind about the alternating brick-course 1/3 of the way up and then changed back again nearer the top. Might be getting distracted by Lola's attention.

If you left the brick at the original height and then added a smoked glass panel aligned with the outer edge then it would be less claustrophobic with more elbow room and more light and with a shampoo shelf at knee height.

Those tiles have gotta be dark. Dark brown would be preferable. For aesthetic and cleaning purposes.

Knock down that wall and put in a lightly frosted shower glass pane. Much more light coming in, makes both places look bigger, plus a bit more maneuvering room.

It's bigger than it looks, and I've said that before.

Two reasons I didn't go for a glass screen... one, I don't trust glass screens in Thailand (wasn't there a recent thread about this?) and two, there will invariably be leaks and mould around any sealant. I just want a simple, walk in, walk out shower in the style of your typical badly planned and hastily constructed, Thai cheap airport hotel.

The shower area is plenty big enough and if there wasn't so much body shaming on this forum I would happily model the completed shower room in action, bar of soap in hand. The top of the wall will make a great shelf for any shower accessories that may be needed.

And I ain't changing anything now. The wall is built and the tiles are bought and paid for.

'Lek' turned up late today and fukked off at lunchtime. He put an edge on the wall and it needs to go off before he can resume tiling... apparently. Fair enough I guess, however his 'two days' estimate is looking increasingly unrealistic now that we're three days in and the job is around half complete.

6 x 6 inch glass bricks they used to be quid (baht was at 72 when I built) however probably 75-100 a piece these days give privacy but light, wall looks about 2 sq yards so 3000 baht of glass blocks you wont regret it.

Considered a glass block wall and it would have been cheap, but I don't personally like them very much, hence a tiled wall.

Light isn't an issue because of the window. Privacy isn't an issue unless people want to leave the bathroom door open when they shower.

I just hope the damn thing gets finished before I go back to work.

When we renovated the bathrooms in chataue bld it seemed a good idea to put the glass blocks in the small window in that bathroom. Bad idea now there's fuck all natural ventilation and the Tenant complains , it's an old house so your going to get those funky Asian country smells either way but we should of left that fucki g window alone

In places with constant reliablle electric a sound, bright idea. However my experience of Esan showers, a lightening storm, no lights, then cold water and a shock as you bend for the soap..........

I have quickly come to the conclusion that 'Lek' will be joining my long list of tradesmen to never use again... unless of course I have something simple like knocking down a Buddha room wall for him.

As they say, 'you can only piss with the cock you've got', and I'm pissing with Lek's cock right now, and it ain't so great. I am sure that he'll tile to some proficiency and it'll be good enough. I'll notice the chips and misalignments but I doubt others will, and I have bigger worries than that so it will soon be forgotten. The thought of introducing glass blocks isn't a welcome one and to be honest, I'm not so fond of then and they aren't necessary. It's a nice, softly lit room by natural light in the daytime and has a bright ceiling light if required at night.

If we have a power cut at night I'll just make sure that David isn't already in there. And if Snubs is visiting I'll just close my bedroom door and put my heaphones on.

So it may not be the broadest of showers but perfectly adequate. My days of shower gymnastics are long behind me and I hope the daughter's never start.



The dogs are warming to 'Lek', as am I. He seems pleasant enough as far as you can tell when there's not been a single word of communication... his English is non-existent and fukk knows what brand of Thai he speaks but it's like nothing I've heard before.

Right now he is probably front runner in the 'Buddha room' project but I have to get that one past the Kommandant first.

She briefly graced us with her presence today in that small window one always gets between the 'end of funeral mourning' and the 'start of Songkran celebrations', but on the plus side it saved her having to sober up from the funeral.

And on another positive, I get another 'snore free' night with Lola and Maya!
