I give the mum and puppies a small treat after I walk the daughter to the end of the road every morning.
This is a really beautiful litter of pups. They greet us every morning with smiles and wagging tails and even the mum is now becoming relaxed and friendly. They've started following me back to the house and I get worried about them crossing the road. This road is lethal for dogs... it's generally quiet but is straight and a cut-through between two main roads. Most slow down when they see the puppies or other dogs but of course many just steam on through at 80km/hr. It's also a back road to avoid police road blocks at night so becomes a race track.
I wouldn't normally stick my neck out, but I'd guarantee that any of these puppies wold make perfect pets. All you have to do is make contact and one could be yours.
I can't say how much the daughter has benefited from growing up with animals. Each of our dogs will do exactly as she says... unless I'm hanging around which seems to undermine her authority. They absolutely worship her... and I'm sure would protect her to the end if required. And to think... there are three more available and free of charge!
Here was the daughter's send off this morning... not a bad way to leave the house for school. Any kid's dream, really!
^ same with my daughter.
Dog won't eat unless she tells her to.
They playfight a lot with the dog growling and keeping daughter's fingers in her mouth. She's the fun one, I'm just the get up early so she can have a piss one.
^^beware of the puppy that Mendip has called "Katie". She will be sweet but can be sassy and b*tchy!

Yeah, I think people who grow up with pets (either cats or dogs) become more empathetic as adults.
^^ How old's your daughter mate? Mine uses the toilet on her own these days.
Btw, would your mutt like a pal? I'll be down Samut Prakan way in a couple of weeks.
^^ Helge, this is no 'sales speech', I'm not trying to use emotional blackmail, I just don't want anyone to miss out on the chance of owning one of these gorgeous puppies.
Yesterday 'Joe' was hit by a car or motorbike but seemingly just received a glancing blow, luckily.
They have fallen on their feet arriving at this girls apartment because she took Joe to the vet and had her fixed up. Thankfully there was nothing broken and no permanent damage. Let's hope this teaches her to stay off the road long enough to find a home.
I feel her pain!
It's dangerous on those roads, I blame midget German sports car drivers.
^ Fair enough.
I guess the obvious solution would be to get a bigger bed but it's your choice, of course.
The mum dog's getting comfortable with me now and soon I'll have her eating out of my hand. It's a gradual process but necessary to eventually get her tame enough to take to the vet for speying.
Little Joe's leg looks fine and she was at the front of the queue for breakfast. The wife sometimes feeds my daughter on these revolting cheese filled frankfurter things so every morning I sneak a couple into the dog's breakfast to get rid of them.
The Monks were collecting their Alms as well.
I was out early on Saturday morning for some exercise, it was a cool and misty morning, when I came across three tiny puppies, cold and crying by the roadside. Mums usually hide their litters somewhere safe, these looked to have been dumped by someone. i put some food out in case the mother returned. The puppies were not yet weaned, they couldn't eat anything.
I went back a few hours later, the two boys had vanished. Only the weakest puppy remained, now crying alone. I really don't need another dog, what to do?
Only one choice really, I put her in a bag and took her to the vet. She weighed in at 750gm, plenty of fleas and ticks and very weak. She lapped up some goat milk and got a squirt of dewormer. The vet guessed about 3 weeks old, eyes recently opened.
She made it through the first night at home and by now the gf had chosen a name, Frankie, after Lily Tomlin's unconventiional character in Grace & Frankie.
She's not a pretty dog and her back legs are very weak, she collapses when she tries to turn around. Maybe things will improve as she gets stronger.
I'll not be able to take on any of Mendip's fine puppies, Chateau Shutree is already overstocked. I hope someone, somewhere will take one or more on.
Here is one more pic of Frankie, in the best traditions of Mendip's threads, there is a bonus foot included.
^ Good man!
A beautiful puppy who I'm sure will get stronger... and even a picture of a foot!
What more could a thread ask for?
You are a good man for doing this. It breaks your heart to see, but what can you do?
We Jusra acquired our fifth dog a couple of weeks ago, same deal two puppies abandoned on the side of the road behind us. No mother, so someone dump them there.
How can a person do that?
anyway, we did not want another dog . already having four, so wife fed them where they were. They were old enough to eat solid food. And they seemed happy playing with each other. Both cute a button.
Then one day, one of them was gone.
We hope someone took him.
And the remaining one was so sad all by it's self. so it started following my wife to our house. Wife said , we will feed her outside the house , and she can only come in the yard during the day,
They must think I am more stupid than I look , and trust me I don't look very bright , but I did not buy it for a moment, especially after the also named him. Nog Noi. (wife's sister is Nog). I call her Kee Noi.( the dog not the SIL, though I am tempted LOL)
So now she is in the house and everyone loves her. The top dog (all five females by chance) has bonded with Nog/Kee Noi and they play all day. Kee Noi is a feisty little girl and has no fear.
Abandoned dogs are a heart braking problem in Thailand
I wish the goverment would impose some regulations regarding the keeping of dogs. And a national spade program. kee noi 1 - YouTube
The sooner you fall behind, the more time you have to catch up.
The common theme seems to be these Dog rescue guys have hearts of absolute gold, but manky feet.
^^ I'd like to think I am a good man BB, but on this occasion it was Shutree who rescued the puppy. There seems to be some glitch with the quoting function... it should have quoted Shutree.
^^^^^^Quite well manicured and infection-free foot Shutree
7.3/10
@shutree - very cute puppies. I like the black one - it looks like my neighbour's dog which sometimes comes to our gate to play with my dog. It's actually my mom's dog since it's in her house & I can't have pets in my apartment, but for simplicity's sake I also call it my dog.
I call the neighbour's dog "Blackie", which can cause some confusion since my mom's hen is also called Blackie!
My family's first dog was a black terrier/Pekingese mix. We named her Shadow. I have a soft spot for black dogs since people here don't usually like them (They think black dogs are ugly and/ or unlucky, same with black cats.)
As for the foot pic, no comment.
What a coincidence Katie, I have two hens called Blackie. Both are completely black.
A veiled compliment there, HW...
Actually guys, I don't recall pictures of your feet appearing on my 'Show us yer feet' thread. I thought there was a forum rule that you can't criticise other people's feet if you don't have the bottle to put yours out there?
