During my 4 stays in KK, I have holed up at the Charoen Thani Princess Hotel. Great accommodations for the price, and a good location, with restaurants like 23 Steak house right around the corner, and a great mall, as well.
Stayed at Kaen Inn our last night, recommended if you need to be close to the bus station, 700 for a basic room up to about 1200 for what they call a suite, standard buffet breakfast. Ok value but if you're mobile consider the uni hotel, same standards, 600 and out of the way, but lots of space and green and young and happy people. Or if you feel rich enough for a splurge try Kosa, 4*, around 1500.
place recently opened........I believe ความสุขเหนือระดับ กับความสบายที่เหนื$
don't worry about the link being in Thai, there is English on their website
looks good, great price too, I'll be staying here in December
Thanks for the link BB, Looks a neat place with a good special price
Looks like it's in the Ban Kok area near the NE University, will have to take a look when I go home
its inbetween Big C and tesco
road parrallel off Mitraparp road,Uni side.
there is an aussi pub its on the lake, next to the big temple, good food on offer, beer is good, and great cakes and other treats.....
Obviously Sofitel is the best and most expensive, Chareon Princess or Kosa are of the same ilk and pretty decent.
Rachawadee resort by the airport is nice.
Kaen Inn is a bit tired now
Khon kaen Hotel not sure as never stayed there.
Roma same as above.
It all depends on what price range/location you are after
I stayed at the Rachawadee near the airport in August. You need a car to get to/from KK tho.
I liked it - nice grounds, pool etc, very quiet. Breakfast wasn't great - they haven't quite worked out what farangs need to start the day. But I'll stay there again for sure.
Usually stay at the sofitel but its not as cheap as it used to be - still good value tho'.

Has anybody been to Eric's Bar since the new owners took over. Three scousers I think. Do you think it is worth a visit? Any pictures would be very welcome, see if it has improved or not.
Hello i am new and from Holland, are there any dutch people in Khon kean? I arrive 28 sept en stay for one year at least. I was there allready one month and it was really hot that time.
They do have proper taxis in KK, and for the inconvenience of four wheels and aircon you get to pay the same as you would for a tuktuk, which in turn is about the same as a Pty mosai.
When we're in KK we call our bloke 10-15 mins before we need a taxi and he's there when we're ready.
If anyone needs the number gimme a shout and I'll go dredge.
That whole area has started to change with more bars and bar girls, Erics Bar is still good for a beer and the new english guy seems pretty good.Originally Posted by luluhippo
My Bar across the road is new with a few girls and a couple of pool tables.
Now they do, started 4 or 5 months ago. Not to many at the moment and some times you have to wait a while.Originally Posted by keda
