    Zoo

Upon opening there will a a allotted number of spaces around the extended pond for cooking, there will be one central area space for washing up which will be shared by all,its there responibilty for cleaning and taking care of, they would have a choice of own plates cutlery etc, though if using ours will be charged for breakages, i'd prefer they use there own, these women do most of the funerals weddings etc and bon fie events, though complain they not get enough work some of them are very good cooks.

We as you said earlier are just really a supplier of foods, goods, though we get the profits from the fish that we rear ourselves we supply the rods for fishing and boats free of charge, we could well be a music venue and may propose beauty contests and different events.

There will also be childrens play areas.

we have good land available now as my wife is only going to be doing rice for eating.

    Yes, Indeed....

This types of fishing + restaurant type of business have been around forever - in numbers - certainly throughout the provinces where they have always gathered popularity. They might vary [in style and operations] from place to place.

Give your head a good shake yaso, it's been done to death, Thais/ Laos go to these places for a bit of amusement, the amusement soon wears of and they stop coming, a mate of mine set up a brilliant fish farm in udon little huts all around the dam, very relaxing but it Soon became boring to the locals and farangs , you still need to feed the fish to , waste of time in his opinion, and this is a guy who has run plenty of successful businesses in the Philippines and Thailand, Think again

There is one small flaw with this. You need a work permit and those are very hard to come bye. And do NOT think that you don't need one. One day they WILL knock on your door.

How can you manage that? Whispering to your lady at night what you want her to do the next day? Sorry, it doesn't work that way. They ALL know where the money comes from. And the moment you tell someone what to do you are working. Consequently you need a work permit. If you are thinking that they don't care about the work permit you are making a very big mistake. When they believe that you are making money they will come.

Taking all the fun out of it with your blatant and slight realities, Norlund.

Yet, there are countless instances where businesses and ventures of every sort that are basically underwritten, organized, and run by Farang but on the surface in a Thai's name that fly under the radar - remaining successful to the day.

More often than not, any such authorities are unaware or indifferent to these "illegal" business activities. And the old wives tale that the locals will have issue with the principle or turn them in enhances the fallacy.

I had Non Immigrant Visa B / work permit. I promise you it's not easy to get. And it has absolutely nothing to do with a Thai lady. Married to her or not. Thank God for that.

In my case it was very simple. I had a company and I had work permit as a manager. It had nothing to do with who I knew or if I was married. Many foreigner have this delusion that they must have a Thai wife if they want a work permit. Why they believe this to be true I don't know. Because it's not.

Ask Simon if he's worked it out yet, I bet fish restaurant bait is not dissimilar from fishy hotel bait.

    Update on my proposed restaurant,

After consulting my wife and locals, they all think its a great idea.

So we have decided to do a prawn restaurant and a karoake bar as well, and we won't have to spend a penny.

We will get three million baht from the bank.
