if you are new to thailand, will it make a difference if i tell you that you can travel from bangkok to khon kaen by plane in 55 mins but b bus it can be from 6-8 hours,

by the way khon kaen is one of the large citys in issarn, very nice but not what you expect if you have only been to skumvit and pattaya and such places

Something that stopped me in my tracks some years ago was my wife's comment when we got to BKK for the first time. She turned to me and said "don't let anyone know we're from Buriram". "Why's that?" "Because they think all people from Buriram/Isaan are stupid". I looked at her and wanted to comment.

Issan is a terrible place for farangs. It is best to stay in Bangkok or Pattaya. There is nothing for farangs in Issan especially Udon Thani. It is much more expensive to live here, housing is crap and nothing but Thai resturants, no farang food available. Crime is also very high. Hope all take this warning and stay away.

i live in issan (rural issan) and have for a while, (no falang food?) what is falang food to you? ( pasta, curry,chips,burger,pizza,) i have all of it without going far, also your life is what you make of it, so for a dipstick like you that maybe needs to be served 24h day, yea issarn is not for you, you will die here and no one will miss you, or notice.
