Bangkok is an urban toilet who's inhabitants only live to work.

Rent an apartment with a nice pool in Pattaya or Hua Hin to use as a base and enjoy. party, travel, party, travel.... rinse and repeat... After a year you would either have got Thailand out of your system and moved on with your life, or gone tropo, got a native pregnant and bought a pig farm.

I plan to live in Hua Hin or other places. I'm still researching that and I can go and see different places on the ground.

I went to Pattaya once, after deliberately avoiding it for years. I feel was sensible to. I don't plan to go again.
I have also deliberately avoided involvement with Filipinas, another decision I think has proven to be sensible.
I tried teaching English once for 5 minutes, there were some cute teachers, but I think I was correct to avoid it. I've also sat in on one of those EFL type courses years ago, it was amateurish.
An American chum of mine who I studied in Japan with never went back to Merkinland, and has lived in Taiwan for years as a proper English teacher, and gets to travel a lot... we occasionally compare notes, as I chose a different path to the same ambition to enjoy in the far east.

If you're going to be a teacher, be a teacher, and do it properly and you can have a good income and lifestyle and actually enjoy Thailand without all the endless microdramas and horror stories.
It's a perennial question about how to be able to enjoy being in places like Thailand. The current vogue seems to be for programmers to work for western firms but live and work in tropical places...

Whether you want to enjoy a different culture or simply keep your scrotum nice and empty, I would look at your CV and see what you can leverage in a more ingenious way. I've been asked to train Thais in Japanese before, but I'm a techie and have nothing to do with it anymore... there's always a market at the interface between stuff. Haven't you got anything you can rent out in Mrka for a bit of income?
