    Teak Door Newbie checking in

Live in Seattle , work in Memphis. Planning another trip to Thailand at the end of January. I thought I would sign up on this forum and see I about making some friends who enjoy traveling as much as I do. I usually stay in the Sukhumvit area of Bangkok. Going to try taking the train and bus to Phuket this time as well. Last year I took a little side trip to Saigon for four days. Might consider doing that again this time as well. Or maybe a trip into Cambodia for a day or two. I will be there probably from February 4 to the 28 th or so.

    Welcome,

Yes for a real taste of Thailand and breath of fresh air after Sukumvit; take the train to Chumphon then a bus to Ranong and a boat out to Koh Chang.

Fogetabout Phuket, it's become a expensive concrete jungle catering to Chinese and Rooskies.

Ranong is still my favorite Thai town, I live about 60 kms south of Ranong.

Hang a while in Chumphon it a pretty nice town too.
