GPS? DO YOU REALLY NEED ONE?
DO YOU HAVE TO TRAVEL FOR WORK? Then understand.
Some of my best memories in the Kingdom involved making a WRONG TURN!
Go make a wrong turn in downtown BKK and get back to us, I like to get to my destination rather than fuck around searching a paper map to try to work out the fuck where Iam.
The beauty of a map is that you can read it and study before you start your journey!
You can also study the map on the gps before you leave, For traveling Thailand its handy but not a must, for driving in Bangkok if you dont know the area its a must, Whoops missed the turn off because I was in the wrong lane and cant get across, never mind its only a hours drive to turn around
Lane discipline doesn't exist in Thailand, just stop reverse or swerve across the lanes same as everyone else.

The beauty of smartnav is that it informs you of the lane to be in well before your turn. Something my Garmin 215w didn't do.

I find that strange as mine seems to work fine and tells me well in advance to keep left or right ?

^ Mine did to an extent. But driving through BKK where there might be four lanes or more, or a lane that might be a right or left turn only approaching before my exit, the smartnav will not only give verbal warnings but graphical warnings with the lanes marked in red to avoid.

I had similar issues with garmin on toll ways. If there were exits very close to each other, the gamin wasn't detailed enough to distinguish which exit to take. After many toll way detours with the garmin i ditched it. As yet i have had no issues at all with smartnav.

    But that's my experience.

You had an old model which did not support the Thai lane assist. New Thai model garmins have it.

I think DrAndy's comment is in reply to oxyjohn's query of 'where do you get the gps unit'. I don't believe the good doctor was advocating carting around his computer in his car to access it for traffic directions.

yes, it was but IcePrick hasn't read the thread

mind you, a lot of laptops and the new tablets can use the GPS system
    I have reported your post
