Sorry T, bored at work, I am...

Actually, I agree with R that unless you've driven the beast (and I've never driven a HD) then who's to know?

I pass a new K showroom every day, and some of the bikes do look nice... I've got a car, but the missus uses it quite a lot, and it'd be nice to have a second means opf transportation... My life is dull, so a bit of fun/enjoyment would be nice (don't want to die though).

I haven't really budgeted to spend any cash on anything over the next few months, but 150k or so would be possible. I'd need to drive on Rama 2 and around the ringroad for about 30kms, so a little bike is probably no good, but I don't think I can justify a 600 (commutor/racierish thingy). I do like the look of the little sports bike, but it's probably not a good idea...

I'm getting close to the stage where I might just do something on a whim and worry about it later. I don't even have a Thai motorbike license, but that should be easy top get. Not sure is the answer.
    Cycling should be banned!!!

No don't have any and am at work. Going to put some 16" apes on next time home.
Will the wiring & cables be hidden in the apes?
No I will not be spending big money on this one as I may upgrade to a newer model in 6 months time.

You ought to try the Honda (CBR250) as well. It doesn't have the top end that the baby Ninja has, but it's probably better suited to normal road conditions. It's obviously built to a higher standard as well.

^ I like it, I've seen them advertised for 105,000 baht (about $3500 Aus) whereas they sell here in Aust. for around $6,000. I think I'll be getting one when I land over there at the end of the year.

The Honda 250 is a great beginner's or 'height-challenged' person's bike- for an experienced rider or average male physique, it's an anemic one-lunger that's not much faster than some scooters (I took a test-ride on one not long ago).

Toss in another 50K and look for something better on the used market.
There he goes. One of God's own prototypes. A high-powered mutant of some kind never even considered for mass production. Too weird to live, and too rare to die.

Rick has some very good points if you are a Harley rider, you would understand them, To me all bikes are different & fun to ride but the important thing is to find a bike that you gel with , over the years i have owned many jap bikes & Harleys at the moment i ride a 08 Street Glide 105 , i feel comfortable with this bike for the type of riding i do around Thailand , it has its faults! what make or type of bike does"nt ? but all round a Harley is a great bike sure you get a lot of attension up country at gas stn etc from Thais & if you handle this in a humble mannor sure it puts a smile on your face people admireing your ride, talking & making friends, photos with them, i was already smileing on the hiways riding a nice machine & as an ice breaker anywhere you cant beat a Harley, Dont knock it untill you have done it ( harley knockers) No! Im not gay either!

^ Would this little 250 machine be okay on a 30km commute on fast roads (ringroad) or a problem when the big cement trucks thunder by?

It doesn't get much more pointless than that... (unless you have 000,000s of kms ahead of you on an Aussie or US road, probably why most UK/Europeans are less fond of the 'beasts').

I think the idea is that you thunder past the cement trucks. The little Honda would piss all over most Hardleys. Why not see if you can get a test ride on one.

Bettyboo Thailand has some great roads and harleys are a great way to get around in comfort style. Nice seat for the wife and your able to carry alot gear.
I went for the road king as I strip it down or add the same bits that are on the ultras.

^ fair enough, mate. If you tour around and have fun then good luck to you and enjoy...

It's also cultural. I wouldn't spend money on a HD, but I would on a speed tripple which is probably just as 'senseless' in some ways.
