Jeremy Clarkson Suzuki Swift Sport review | Driving - Times Online
I took the old model for a spin.
On the picture is the new model. - Not so easy to see the difference, I admit.
The old one was a pleasantly sporty drive, but considerably less powerful than Jazz, City, Fiesta...
The new ones are supposed to have lost some of that sportiness and (in order to save on fuel) also lost power...
But they have a nice mini-like design with probably even more options to
"modify" the appearance. I like them with roof and wing mirrors in contrasting color to the body.
^ Is it possible to have considerably less power than a City???
Fair comments though, there's a dealer not too far away from me on the ring road - think I'll have a look; the missus might get a shock if I come home with a new car... The sport version when/if it comes will probably be over 600k though...
I think the Suzuki Swift Sport might be coming to Thailand soon. Did I read that in the BP car supplement? I think so...
Cycling should be banned!!!
The Swift will be built in Thailand in 2013
The one I saw the other day was a white Swift Sport with stripes, and wide tyres, looked nice, not sure of it's age thoughOriginally Posted by Bettyboo
^mmm, I've seen some goon 'uns too. Didn't know they had a sport version; need to check the specs.
I used to have a weblink to a site that had all the new car prices in Thailand, but lost it when my old laptop went AWOL. Anybody have a link? Thanks.
The Swift has only been here say just over 2 and a half years. I think it came in Dec 2009. It is indeed a nice copy on the outside of the Mini. Ihave not taken the time to read the review but thanks sabaii.
Suzuki has revealed a performance variant of its Swift, called the Swift Sport. The Japanese carmaker will unveil the car at the Frankfurt Motor Show this September.
The 2 door sports car hatchback has an updated 1.6 Litre high performance engine M16A which produces a max power of 134.1 BHP [at] 6900 RPM and maximum torque of 160 Nm [at] 4400 RPM. The exterior dimensions remain same as the new generation Swift at 3890mm length, 1695mm width and 1510mm height. The wheelbase also remains same at 2430 mm with the front and rear track width being 1470mm and 1475mm respectively.
In a brief statement Suzuki revealed the Sport “offers superior cornering stability and brisker, more responsive handling, thanks to struts with internal rebound springs and an exclusive rear-suspension design.”
On the Inside, Suzuki Swift Sport 2012 has got sport seats, seven airbags for improved safety, impact absorbing zones in the chassis of the car, high quality interiors with sporty finish. The Swift sport will be launched in Europe and has rare possibility to make it to India as the premium sports segment is not on Maruti’s priority list as of now.
uh oh couple million in Thailand, imported. Tune your own here I guess. But if you live in BKK what is the point?
Can't be surely, the Grand Vitara is only 1 million on the link above from Tax ExileOriginally Posted by aging one
I sure hope so, but almost any tuned up car that makes it way into thailand on the real market is taxed so heavily. I wish I had the bucks to buy one.

red plate one here for 650K
Yes, it's possible. The Suzuki comes now with 100 Horses (had 103 before the facelift I think). You can really feel the difference. (Who's slogan is that actually?)
I doubt that we are going to see the Sport here.
With that already limited dealer network, they will not be too happy to stock spare parts for such a fringe model. I think that reason was given by several small scale players, why they don't import some of the spicy models they make in the (duty free) ASEAN region.
Anyhow, if everybody's dreaming already:
What if Ford, who already builds the Fiesta locally would give us the Fiesta ST?!!
Ford Fiesta ST Concept breaks cover in Frankfurt!
I think DJ Pat said it to Papillion when they were trying out some new toys...Originally Posted by amazon777
Yeah, the Fiesta is a nice car, a hot one for 800k would be nice. But, as you say with the Suzuki, will never happen.
We're stuck with the usual boring motors...
The new Honda Civic 3 door hatchback looks really nice too, I'd get one if they were released here, an R version for 1.2 million would be just my cup of tea, but again, I might as well just dream on...
2012 Honda Civic
This'd be the one I'd like:
SiView All Features & Specs
- 2.4L 4-cyl. engine
- Manual transmission
- Up to 22 cty/31 hwy mpg
- Navigation System
- Bluetooth
- iPod input
- Satellite radio
- Side/Curtain Airbags
- Stability Control
- Traction Control
675,000 baht in the US; just another example of how the consumer gets fuked in Thailand...

I wouldn't. Less room inside than the City. And the dash is too low like the old Rover 600s.Originally Posted by Bettyboo
You guys are sure adding more fuel to the fire. I do agree with all the statements on the Beemer and since I do not personally know a great mechanic, that thought may be out the window. Marmite lives in my area and has already said it would be crazy to buy the 325I and I have to agree if I will not be able to get it worked on. I have been around cars quite a bit in my lifetime and have also learned well the lesson of a good mechanic. The Suzuki Swift looks better style-wise than many others and I do not mind getting one tuned in Thailand.
Back to my original delima of finding a smallish car in the 400,000 baht range that is even close in value. It appears I will have to go back to my idea of test driving and seeing what is best in my opinion. I am not in that big of a hurry and have time to drive all the cars mentioned plus continue thinking about a second hand car in that price range that I would like even more (making sure I already know where there is a good mechanic).
Anymore thoughts everyone before I start my test drive marathon?
Squint and you'll see we are half way there with our cars.
The lamps are clearly interchangeable (just with yellow indicators) and the bonnet and a-pillar scream "city" too.
Let's just loose two doors and chop the back end of the roof.
How hard can it be?!
(And I know who said that one.)
BTW: Because I couldn't get that "feel the difference" line out of my head since I wrote it, I had to put it into the search engine of everybody's choice.
Looks like it brings us back to the Fiesta:

Buying the Beemer is still knawing at me. Does anyone know a good mechanic in the Udon area? It would make a decision much easier knowing there is a qualified individual that would be able to work on the 325I. My plan is to see it in person when I arrive on Oct. 14th and make a final decision at that point. I still apperciate everyones input until then. especially if you own a BMW in Thailand. I do understand the risks, but I am still not feeling these new eco cars.
Anyone have any experience with Sky Autohaus in Udon? They have a big websie advertising BMS sales, service, repair and painting.

Stop thinkin of the Beemer,
I have a friend who has a Lancer, all pimped up and I think new it cost him 1,500,000 baht, not too much more than Europe.
I will get more info from him
1 mill and brand new
Tint the windows though
SS, a little rich for my blood. I am still wanting to pay 400,000 or less for a second car. The question is still new or second hand and something I can live with, style wise.
