Honda Brio 2 Version Prices: The cars sold in Thailand, there are two variants of S and V. For the price of the S version manual is 399,900 Baht and 469,500 Baht for automatic. The price of the version V automatic is about 508 900 Baht.
Does yours have the starter button gimmick? I couldn't work out how to open the leccy windows without the engine running. A bit of a ball ache when refuelling.Originally Posted by Loy Toy
Now that the Honda Brio is starting to appear in showrooms, has anyone purchased one yet? I do see a lot of Nissan Marches on the road, but still like the Brio styling better.
I like the Brio but the minute I grabbed the door handle and felt the open casting behind it it felt immediately cheap. Shame really but they could have put a proper door handle on it FFS, first impressions and all that. I notice they skimped on painting the engine bay apart from undercoat as well, you can see where they saved money building it but it is a cheap car and a Honda, would be great around the city. I wouldn't go anywhere near the March.
Fahn Cahn's
A mate put 50k deposit on one, delivery to Chiang Mai in Nov due to the japanese tsunami.
They reviewed the Nissan on Fifth Gear and said it was a piece of shit - worse then the previous Micra.
At the price point, I am sure both Nissan and Honda will be cutting corners. Nowing this, it does not surprise me about your first impression Bung. It would only be an around town car for the wife and something for me to tinker with. With this in mind, it would be interesting to see what someone thinks that has purchased either car. My vote still goes to the Brio for its styling and technical knowhow. Does anyone think the Brio is worth the 399,000 baht price tag?
Not much fancy on the Japanese cars esp the two thats focussed here but out of curiosity, here's one that I think has more to succeed based on what current young men/buyers would like to be seen in or with.... its Korean though... also NOT my "oozie" to have but its raving wild with the wannabes we have in our country.... still a VERY small car to feel its cockpit to slouch into.

Is the Kia Rio available in Thailand and what is the price?
It should be after reservation sales are adequately booked in Europe. Its going at close to €12K on this side of the globe, should be 2- 3K lesser over there esp. in Thailand unless KIA is not popular as yet.
I have seen some Kia's on diplay in malls in Thailand, but do not know how popular they are. They have come a long way from when they first started building cars. I will keep an eye out when they become available. If their price range is close to the March and Brio, I would like to take a closer look before purchasing.
It's called the Picanto K1 in Thailand and is 425k for the manual or 495k for the auto.Originally Posted by rickschoppers
Thanks Marmite, worth a look then at that price. So far, I am not that excited about the Nissan March and have not yet seen the Honda Brio. All three are close in price, but that does not mean they are close in quality and dependability. Both Nissan's and Honda's track records are pretty good but Kia could be a sleeper and have been improving the last couple of years.
I thought the brio looked like a fucked up yaris.
I caught a fleeting glimpse of the Honda the other day and it looked like a better version of the Jazz.
I just realized, its marketed hier as the Rio and was not sure what it would be tagged for Asian region.
Well, MTD now clarified it and who knows, the specs may differ somewhat with engine torque too... we have normally, more robust engines built-in and diesel would be considered the extra option too but small cars in Asia like in Thailand may not have that alternative most of the time unless they are converted for cabby purposes.
But this KIA's exterior design sure sets far better forward than the Japs with the Brio and March. Nowadays, good engine performance is a standard default to expect so less of an issue. What next folds along is the sexy or macho robust outlook it portrays, something many spend looking out behind their window drapes admiring or despising the other çhaps smashing or ghastly poor taste with cars....hahaaa.
Here's mine... sleek and still a thrill to cruise when hovering over the tarmac with a C5 HDi 2,2 Diesel thrust engine....
It is interesting how the different opinions describe the Brio between Jusus and Marmite, but that is why they have different makes of cars. I do like something a little more stylish in a vehicle as Cruiser has shown but know in Thailand the choice is limited. I already have a Toyota Vigo but am looking for a small car for the wife and need to stay within a budget. I had four 17" black alloy wheels sent from the US with a 4X100 bolt patter which is Honda's standard. If I can find another stylish small car with that bolt pattern that is in the same price range as the Honda Brio, I would be interested. It would've been nice to ship my 2005 Mini Cooper over, but we all know what a pain in the ass that is.
RIO no, but the Picanto is available, which fits perfectly into this thread: KIA MOTORS
That Thai site sure is a slow one....
I found this other>>>: KIA MOTORS
This looks smart & smallish for the compact couple on the move!!
All the new KIAs look quite good in the metal.
They got that new designer Peter Schreyer, who was before the head of design at AUDI.
(Maybe Ingolstadt should get him back, because all they come up with now seems to be variations of their own products 8 years ago - which he probably designed back then.)
Cruiser, any current price for the Picano in Thailand?
Hi Rick, 2B honest, i won't know on the prices esp. while I'm still in horny Holland but I'm sure the lads there will soon help you with some tracing on local Dealers.
My wife just saw one quite similar to it at a junction yesterday afternoon and quipped about liking it too.... but concluded.... "they're still too small for sure for our roomy desires!!!"
I took a better look and said: But thats the new two door Ford honey!!!
^
Thanks Cuiser. I am seeing on another site that the Kia Picanto is selling for 407,000 baht. My vote still goes to the Honda Brio at 399,999 baht and a little more technical knowledge. I still need to drive one before making a final decision.
