Here in Antigua they have an interesting mix of yank and euro pick ups and SUV's plenty of Fortuners and Vigos as well as it's yank cousin the Tacoma.

Loads of different colours to choose from as well. I think they would be the Sth American built ones, RHD.

Behold the future face of the Vigo (I reckon anyway)

    This is a 2008 model.

    Folks,

We're still talking about 'Fortuner's' here. Always good to read about alternatives and their merits, but seriously????? OK, I'll throw it out. Tell us a better value, all round performance vehicle to the Fortuner, but also tell us why (only owner/user comments accepted).

I will have to say that off the showroom floor there is no better value than the forskinner if you have use for that class vehicle and it is the only one that we need or use, I would like a sedan sometimes. but when the water hits us and we run floor deep in the flooded streets and hyways where we live, there is nothing else we will buy.

This. My Fortuner certainly isn't particularly an elegant vehicle but it hasn't let me down yet.

/also it has lots of cup-holders , my wife drives a f*cking Benz that doesn't have a single one :/

    Who made you the boss?

I keep looking back to the Captiva. I really want this to be a good and reliable car as I think it would be better than the Fortuner in every way except off road but trolling the net they seem to be pretty unreliable. I would be gutted if I got one and had some of the problems they are having with them after owning a Vigo that hasn't missed a beat. All the sites where people talk about there particular cars reliability the Vigo/Hilux/Fortuner rarely get mentioned.

So it is still the Fortuner. Shame as Captivas have a lot that the Fortuner doesn't maybe at the cost of reliability.

There's a fairly recent thread about this car as well as a couple of other choices (from Jesus Jones I think) and he said the Captiva drove like a bag of shite. Ended up buying the Mitsu Pajero in the end.

Cheers marmite. I hadn't considered the Mitsu as I had swore off them and thought they were like the MU7 which really is pick up based (leaf rear springs and size) it is actually pretty good on paper but foking ugly. I like how the seats fold away into the floor, wish the fortuner did that. Sounds like it rides better as well and resale second hand not so good so possible to pick up a bargain.

Thought he said it was noisy as he chose the diesel engine.
Got the pertrol version. 2 years now and no major problems.
Still as I mentioned before on this thread. Should try out the Mitsu. Was mentioned as having a fairly surprising good suspension thus giving a good ride.

    Really!
Suspension is firm. More so than the CRV. But Fortuner is firmer (bumpier)
    Mitsu no idea.

Marmers you don't own a vehicle. Thus should stay out of the motoring section.

I had to look that one up. Surely a Trail 70 would've been 'funnier'?

Fair enough. You don't have any friends, so you should stay out of the social areas of the forum.

Never had any dealings with a Trail 70, but I did buy my sons a Trail 90 once,, but they let a neighbor kid ride it and he crashed it into a tree, so fucked up their scooter.
