Vios Wheel and Tire (Tyre) Size

My BIL and I both have Toyota Vios. Mine is a slightly better model. Mine has 15 inch wheels and his has 14 inch wheels. His tires are a bit bigger to make up the difference.

Why is this done? Is one size of wheel better or cheaper than the other? Or, is there some other reason for the difference?

Yea it's quite common for higher spec models to have bigger wheels with low profile tyres. It's mainly for looks but you will get a bit better handling from low profile tyres.

Yes the smaller wheel/tyre combo is cheaper

Yeah, that's it. Lower profile tires and fancier rims. I knew the extra money I paid went somewhere!

Yes, they look steel so he bought some fancy hub caps (wheel covers?).

You can't find rims smaller than 15" in the west for pickups these days. Most come with 16+, some come with 20" puppies. Gets a bit crazy with the huge rime sizes though, you end up with a harsh ride and lots of rim damage because potholes can bend the rims if the tire profile is too low.

I saw some dumb prick with spinner rims on his F150 today. The rims probably cost close to what an entry level F150 costs!

Opps! my bad. You are correct I was thinking of the Vigo. I guess I should slow down and read all the words in the OP.
