Back in the UK I owned a black BMW 3 series and my experience is the same as Loy Toy's. Unless you are prepared to wash them daily black cars always look filthy.

Another weird experience was that it attracted other cars like a magnet. Three cars drove into it, two into the rear and one into the side. I concluded there was something about the colour that made them less noticeable to other drivers, especially in poor lighing. Way too much hassle I'll never buy another black car.

Later I bought a silver 7 series and that was far easier to maintain and nobody ever drove into it.
I see fish. They are everywhere. They don't know they are fish.

^^ so there you go. After an exhaustive study we can conclude its better to not buy a black car as people will run into them.

What about white cars? I've never driven a white car but I can imagine that it might blind you as it reflects all of the sunlight?

Grey is the most dangerous colour for a car .

Not really and they don't call it grey anymore, it's platinum silver or some shit.

My granddad bought a brand new 1967 MB-230 and the official color name way "mouse grey" it was quite good looking. Mercedes paintjobs back were quite superb.

But back the OP; black is one of the stupidest colors for a car/truck. Not only is it hotter but it shows up dirt like nobodies business. You have be constantly polishing the stupid thing.

The other thing about black SUV's and pickup's the most ignorant asshole drivers are behind the wheel.

No a white car doesn't blind anyone. They are easier to keep clean, and repair body work.White is much easier colour for body shops to work with. I you buy a used white car you should be extra vigilant for previous accident damage covered up.
Having a white car also indicates you are a reasonably thoughtful intelligent fellow.

Myth busters definitely did this one. It is one of the few episodes I did watch.

Can't remember the result but I think black motors were defo hotter. Anyway I would be surprised if they were not.

I would never buy a white car. They look good brand new but they show their age quicker than any other colour.

    Pardon me!
There are sure to be exceptions to my rule, but some of the very worst driving I've seen out there are the black 4dr Vigos and Fortuners. You don't see too many black Fords. So maybe y'all are the exceptions.
Black would never be my color choice,

There are many inattentive drivers out there who would still see other cars if they were visible, lighter colours.
I would never buy a black car, but it's amazing how many there are in Australia these days. People seem to think they're "cool", or that it makes them look like they are rich.

I've owned both. If there is a difference it's insignificant. Leave either out in the sun and they are both hot as hell inside.

    Yep black was hotter.

SPINOFF: A black car heats up faster than an identical white car. (From Pilot 2)

    confirmed
A fan wrote in and asked a follow up question: "Does the color of a car affect the way it heats up?". The MythBusters used two identical cars, one black the other white and left them both out in the summer heat with thermometers in both. By mid-afternoon the black car had heated up to a temperature of 135 °F while the white car topped off at 126 °F, almost 10 degrees cooler.

I had the great idea of getting a white car, total mistake!

The fucker is dirty within an hour of being cleaned. Next one will be silver like the last one.

As far as appearance, I personally like a highly polished black on black car. Yes, they do show the dirt, but what car doesn't? As for heat, it's too fuvking hot here in Thailand to tell the difference in car color, so it is a moot point.

    Problem solved......

white is the easiest colour to keep clean and black is the worst .

silver /grey is a mistake as they blend in with the tarmac are are difficult to see .

Black looks great when the vehicle is still on the showroom floor, but out in the real world they show up every speck of dirt, dust, even the tiniest of scratches show more on a black paint job, also harder for repairs at the body shop.

Black paint jobs are for showing off and attracting attention to yourself, not exactly practical for an expat wwho would wish to remain low key.

The black Pajero I have is a bugger to keep clean and gets hotter than Summer in Hades when parked out in the sun.
Fortunately, the 'asshole-value' of driving a large black SUV in an aggressive and intimidating manner offsets the other disadvantages immeasurably.
