I wouldnt buy one. They are uncomfortable, under-powered and handle like a box of wheeties. nor do they have much room if you have people in the back seats.

I am buying it as a motorised shopping trolley for a woman driver
not a sports machine
i like it, its one of those rarities these days, a vehicle with no pretensions other than that of a deeply unfashionable workhorse, a dim witted slave if you like, something that does "exactly what it says on the box".
being a toyota, it should keep going without any breakdowns, and if you keep a hundredweight of cement or a bound and gagged mother in law in the back over the rear axle, it should firm up the jittery rear cart spring suspension nicely.
better in a dark colour with a plain unadorned exterior than tarted up with chrome and sideskirts and sport kit. leather seats and a more tactile steering wheel might be worthwhile options though.
this is a big part of it - plus it has 10 years of pedigree under its belts which should have been enough time to iron out any major foiblesOriginally Posted by taxexile
it's meant to be loaded up with groceries at makro and then get driven at 80 kph for 50 klms and various other local market excursions and get a favourable fuel economy.
If you torture data for enough time , you can get it to say what you want.

I did the delivery trip from BKK to sangkha in a brand new 1.5L S auto Avanza ( white ) - 2 people and a bit of luggage
apart from the traffic last friday - 2.5 hours just to get to saraburi and a couple of holdups on the hills from the standard thai lack of skill on the road
the car performed very well - you need to keep the revs up and force it to change gear as needed but it cruised nicely at 100kph at about 3200 RPM
with the revs up it will overtake fine - changing gears at around 5k RPM
only 40 litre tank , but you get 450-500 klms out of it
I have now done 1000 klms in it with a combination of highway and city driving and I quite like it - excellent in car parks
it is not as wide as the newer generation of pickups but it is about 50-75mm shorter than a fortuner - about the same height as a 2wd pickup - good vision
seating was comfortable enough for the 8.5 hours it took to do 450klms in the horrendous friday traffic
I like the amount of room inside - I would be interested to see the cubic metre difference between it and a fortuner
I have had four people in it and 100kgs+ of makro excess and it still performed well - good enough to overtake quickly.
the steering is a bit point to point , but you get used to it quickly - it goes around corners well once you are used to the steering - I did not feel unstable doing 100kph through a corner in toptuan which I would take the fortuner around at 100kph
the back end does get a bit rubbery pulling hard into a corner - very similar to a fortuner
it is rear wheel drive - which I prefer
I did notice when it was windy that I got pushed aound a little
so far I am very happy with the unit and I would easily recommend it as a second car for the shopping drone or even a first car if you did not have to travel long distance ( + 3-400 klms ) often.
I have one. I like it. Excellent choice in this price range for a good little work horse.
The car snobs will always find flaws but they really can't point to an alternative in this price range.
At 670 K its got to be a real good deal.
I rented one in Bali last year and it climbed up the mountainous roads no problem.
Plenty of storage room in it.
I quite liked it as well. Toyota will go forever if properly maintained.
Stay away from Avanza. Body very thin and better than Mobilio / Freed

Maybe Thetyim will answer you back in 2 years time?
