    Recommend me a helmet

I have an oval shaped head and so far the helmets I have tried (even XL) leave me with a very painful spot just at my forehead.

I don't want anything too expensive as I am just a learner, but at the same time I don't need a searing pain after about 20mins of wearing the damn thing. The training school I am attending only allows open face helmets during lessons.

    Any advice please?

the number 1 rule with riding a motorbike is to buy a helmet a little bit more expensive than you can afford.

flash the problem is that i only want a helmet for learning as the school don't allow full face helmets.

after i have my licence i will buy a full face one.

anyway the expense is not really the issue here. i would just like to know if there are any companies that make more oval shaped helmets.

Depends how much you want to spend. I used to pay a nice whack and have something like an Arai or my fave the Simpson Bandit. The problem with helmets is they are made to a size but if you've got a Frankenstein shaped bonce its not going to be relevant.
Its a case of try it on, if it fits and its comfy you buy it.

Brand makes if you don't know them are Arai, AGV, Shoei and Shark to name a few.

Some helmets fit people better than others, I love my Shark as it fits my head well but for others with a funny shaped head the shark maybe noisey and
    uncomfortable.
So you will need to go and try the helmets until you find one that will work for you. Just because your mate swears by a Arai doesn’t mean they will be as good for you. I just picked up a nice kids size helmet in Oz for the wife 450 dollars, but have been trying helmets for two years, I must have bought about 7 cheaper helmets in Thailand but in the end they were to heavy or to loose.

hopefully not within the next few months inside the training circuit.

they dont allow you to go onto the road here without an instructor until you get your licence

Maybe find out where the Thai cops get their helmets, most I see stick way out in front and back and tight on the ears as a Thai head is shaped as if it was used as a shim under a short piano leg for the first year of life, or maybe as a wheel chock for the car at night, same shape as a run over orange.

I'd agree with Blackgang - the Thai cop helmet would be the most likely to fit and is not going to cost a lot.
gjbkk is on the money with an Arai open face - but after you pass your test would you go for a full face??
Hung Hin has the best stocks of Arai's and all the fractional fitting insert pads out side of Japan - you just need to get to HK!!

Arai or Shoei, one or the other is usually a good fit, I recently bought a first really comfortable vented open face Shoei in Singapore, I do have a normal head though

for comfort and coolness bicycle helmets work well enough. The police here let you get away with them. They usually have an adjustment feature to fit most noggins.
Just don't land on your face if you crash.

well the crappy helmet that i bought at the weekend did not cause any headaches which i am very pleased about.

it was also nice to get up to 4th gear today on the driving centre circuit. And i only stalled a couple of times.

    Different people have different heads.

Americans have rounder heads whereas Brits have more long shaped heads.

Shark helmets in Rayong told me this. Her name was May and she was hot. She was meant to give me a few free samples but I couldn't get in contact with her.

^ I have the same helmet that Rossi wears and it is totally brilliant. Removable liner, super light helmet. And superb fit.
Sharks used to be sold by an ole' fella in BKK, but alas no longer in business. Could suggest you try Paddock. But not sure if they are stocking Sharks these days. I should pop along and have a look.
