^ I will know on Sunday, if that one is sold or to slow, then I'll go for a 2.3 V5 Passat. But it's really the fuel economy I'm looking for, and there the TDI is the winner.

You can pick up a Camry for that price.

I would love a Passat but only somewhere that I knew I could get the parts with out being raped.

Thats true, but I have a problem with head-room in the Camry, a friend of mine in Bkk have one, and I need to lay the seat down quite a lot, and I dont like that driving position very much

I know, but I need a sedan.. It's for driving from Bkk to Buri-Ram on regular basis.
Wouldn't a 2-3 year old Honda Civic or Toyota Corolla, or Mazda 3, be around 600 000?

Parts dirt cheap everywhere, your neighbour's son will be able to fix it for ten baht and a bottle of Leo.

Edit: Sorry, didn't know you're 2.5 metres tall. That does complicate things.

    Hi

Just an update on the situation
I went to Bkk yesterday to have a look at the car and take it for a spin, it's a 2003 model but all in the car, like the seats, buttons, everything was like new, it has only one owner from new, according to the green book, and 165.000km on the clock. The engine sounded smooth and it was wonderful to drive, really good power so I think that it's the 130hp engine there is in it, plenty of room for me as well, so after some negotiation we got the price down to what I thourght was fair, some might think it's to much when you compare to the 2.3 V5 Passat they are around 420K-500K, but the mileage isent very good.
Thanks to the people who helped answer my questions.

I'd nix the TDi just because they're rare here.

A 2-3 year old Corolla Altis is plenty roomy, they're a million of them around. You can convert it to LPG and save $$$$ on fuel and maintenance. You can go 400 kms on a tank of LPG.
And you can paint it pink like a bkk taxi.

The picture above shows the "PD" type engine for which the PD+ unit from TDI-TuningBox is suited. There is a circular connector at the end of the cylinder block and a slave pump mounted as part of the engine. No fuel injector lines are visible from the pump. On models such as the Audi A4 and VW Passat the engine is mounted at 90 degrees to the one show above. The circular connector and slave pump can be found to the rear of the engine bay on such models.

The picture above shows the VP type 1.9TDI engine fitted to earlier models, the fuel pump is separate from the engine and the fuel injector lines from the pump are clearly visible.

A lad I knew in Pattaya bought a truck.

Nice truck, big wheels, big suspension, big tires etc etc.

Had a D4D bage on the outside of it. Looked the business. He paid 500k or so for it.

Mate went down to see him and he was bitching about how much it drank. Mate opened up the bonnet to take a look and said " you daft **** it's the old 3.0 diesel it's not a D4d"
Of course it is said the lad. it's got the badge

It's the 130hp engine, it has been confirmed now, but even if it was the smaller, I still would have bought the car.
