    motorcycles

Talk about dreams coming true, prior to the boy coming home on leave, he purchased a Buell Motorcycle through an overseas sales program. Buell is a subsidiary of Harley. Upon arrival home, we went 50 miles down the road to pick up the cycle at the dealership. I don't know exactly how many cc it was but it was somewhere in the neighborhood of 987 or something like that. Anyway, it is a screamer and has plenty of power to spare. I know my limitations and this is too much power between the legs for me.

    Right, it's all go for a W 650!

Just got back from Bkk and found a beauty but the guy had sold it the day before. well, after having a good cry about it the guy cheered me up by saying he will get me one the same in a week.

130k B but only had 15k klm's on it and was effectively a new bike even though it was a 2000 model. The spoke nipples still had the golden colour from the plating and it even had the protective laquer coating on the polished alloy. definately correct milage.

Waiting for him to email pics from the ones he can get, said no problem getting one in same condition. Even asked what colour I wanted. The one in the shop was nice, black with red, a classic colour scheme. Not sure of other colours, I know you can get silver/ blue and I think there is black/tan. Older models available as well for more $ Guy's shop is around Pin Klao area. There were a few shops selling jap imports. I nearly bought a Honda CL 400 with 8k klm's for 50k B before chatting to mr W650. Would have been a great bike for around here but the pipes would burn the crap out of you even though they had a classic look. Was told they are no good but for that price and milage I thought it was ok for a 400.

looked at another W650 and was a complete piece of shit in comparison, 50k klm's and non standard paint job (but nice) also had a quick and poor frame paint job but I did ride it and it was great, really smooth and torquey. Even the mrs slung her leg over it and bored off up the soi, the guy selling it nearly came in his pants and immediately tried chatting her up!

I may get two of the things and make one a scrambler.

PP, what the hell is a "Peyton Place" pipes for a W650? It will definately need opening up, very quiet.

    Google cafe racer cb750.

I posted a few pics of them here. Should make one of them as a cheap project bike.

Update. My man in BKK has found me a '00 W650 with just 7000 klm on it. Silver / blue. Got a pic, looks good. Off to Bkk on Thurs and unless it has a problem will pick it up. 130k THB. Also have the importers ID and it will be sold directly to me from them which is important for getting a book apparently.

^ I found it interesting that the partly assembled bikes appear to have wheels on them.

The two bike shops I knew that did import bikes never put the wheels on until they were sold. Stopped the Customs and Excise people nailing them for some reason

^ No chance of a test ride for any prospective customer then?

    Just a "test sit"?

It reminds me of a retro BSA or Triumph. Nice wheels. I noticed the seat height was 30", though which is a big tall in the saddle for me being used to hogs.

    Nice bike.

Oh yeah, the guy was putting one of those together when I was there, looked like it had some pretty mean under pinnings with all the plastic off.

Without sounding like a mug, the guy did seem very genuine and knowledgable about his bikes. He was asking 140k THB for a similar bike to mine which he sold for 130THB and selling me mine for same price so he didn't try and pull anything more out of me which he could have considering it only has 7000 klm on it compared to 16 000klm on the other one.

Like all of them he can go look for whatever you want at the warehouses.

This guy also only deals in new (ish) bikes, they were all in excellent condition.

Interesting about the wheels, I would have thought having an invoice with tax paid would make it legitimately being in the country?

Well my 5' nothing mrs can get the tips of both feet on the ground! You must be a real short ass! (only joking) You can take a bit of foam out of the seat. It's 800mm seat height for us metrics.

When they come in parts they aren't imported as whole bikes. So they avoid the big tax thing. Peterpan will be able to confirm this or call me a knob.
