Thanks for your opinion of the XSR, I agree it is "too much" of a bike for tootling around Pattaya but the group of guys I went up to the Motogp with are always out on long runs and want to join them rather than tag along in the pickup..... was 2 on 800 duke scrambler / 1 on a 1100 duke scrambler / 1 on a 1000 versys and 1 on a z1000.

I'd really like an 1100 scrambler but got a hard-on when I sat on the XSR900 up in Buriram.

I get it.
Note the MT07 - XSR700 have the same bhp and torque figures as the 803cc motors in the Ducati Scrambler and 797 Monster, and in road tests are actually faster.
The XSR900 has the same torque figures as an 1100 Scrambler, and again the triple flat torque curve will make it feel far faster.

Some nice 765 RS versions only a year or two old on the S/H market for under 300k, which, for over here, is not bad money.

Thats why you want an XSR900 instead of a cheaper MT09.

I stopped liking the Speed Triples 2011 on when they stopped making the round headlight version with a longer wheelbase and more relaxed chassis dimensions.
They went from a hooligan street fighter GT (grand tourer) to a hooligan, nutter street fighter with sportsbike agility and flighty handling.

As for the pre 03 955i's - oh yes!!!

I once owned a Harley, an 89 FXR, very very modified, sold the 89 Guzzi in the pic to buy it. 3 years later, part/ex'd the Harley back for the Guzzi in the pic again and another 88 Cali III.
Rebuilt one with all the best stuff on (mine) and sold the other one to a mate, both very similarly styled.
All 3 bikes are still in the "family", so to speak.
Which is nice.

I also owned many Triumphs, and still own a Bonneville i bought, new 40 and a half years ago.

FXR's are still really popular, the best harley ever,most of them say handling wise, see a lot putting twin cam engines in them even the S&S 124"How did you rate it?

Loved it, but being a mechanic, i would not be putting a twin cam lump in it. A breathed on Evo is more than ample.
As mentioned, mine was very very non stock, it braked and went round corners like Milwaukee had never envisaged.
13" floating disc, 6 pot Billet British caliper, Koni shocks, PS front fork springs and damper mods, nice tyres yada nada da bing.
It also had such good gearing, it could cruise all day at 100mph @ 4000rpm, and going just a tad faster than ring road traffic sitting at 50mph, me @ 55mph, it was turning over @ 1800rpm.
Motor was stock bar an S&S carb, mild Andrews cam, and a points/condensor conversion.
Wonderful.

PCX for me, last one gave a good ride for 8-9 years with no serious problems. Neighbour has a Harley (and others), fcuking wakes the dead when he ticks it over every couple of days; might get around to posting a pic, cracker of a bike.

Just rejetted my RVF yesterday. Then took off on a 80km blast through the mountains. Man I love the V4 gear driven sound. Perfectly suited for these mountain roads. Next up is the install of Tyga Full SST exhaust. Just haven't had time.

Makes me miss my VFR!

Those days are gone now though sadly.

They are just such a well engineered, well balanced moto for these parts. Light, easy to flip around and unique with the single sided swing arm.

I've recently signed up to a custom motorbike Thai Facebook group. For about 70k I can get a 400cc "bobber".

But I fear that'll kill me. I want something slow and easy to ride but makes me look like a badass.

Nothing wrong with Harleys, or custom bikes that are not Jap clones per se, but there's a lot wrong with copies, or worse, bad copies.

Plenty of those 400's up my way, some legit too, but never seen an 800.

Interesting that there are plenty of them up your way, is that here in Thailand? I ask as these are grey market motos and not many of them made it here. UK has quite a few as does Japan but they are slowly disappearing

Spec wise; The NC35 is a 400cc, the RC45 version is 750cc. They did not make an 800cc model. The later VFR's did come out with an 800 I believe but totally different moto. It was more of a tour ride then a track bike. As for wanting a RC45 750R, yeah that would be a nice moto to have but they are super rare and command a big price. The 400cc is perfect for around these parts.

Those Steed things are a copy of an HD Softail. They may look rigid, but in fact have (poor) suspension.
