nice boy aswell
Drove my flooded soi, was about 300mm deep.
Ingested water and bent 2 conrods.
Drove it to ford Pattaya next morning.
They pulled the engine and stripped it to bits, found 2 bent rods.
Called me and said water ingress damage no warranty, call your insurance.
Insurance want to inspect vehicle.
Insurance inspect vehicle and see its in a million bits, no insurance as should have called them before it was pulled apart.
Ford Pattaya goes whoopsie, we forgot to tell you to call them when you dropped it off.
Purchase a short motor, get it installed and go to trans dept to register engine change... no engine number.
call Ford wtf no engine number.
Ford goes nope not on a short service block.
Buy a a long motor that does come with engine number and have it installed.
Peeps that installed it let the timing chain go slack when fitting the fuel pump.
Turn key to start it and the pistons smash all the valves through the head (no damage to rods or pistons).
Have the head of original motor rebuilt and fitted.
Car would not run over 2000rpm. hits limp mode.
I gave up and sold it for 300k.
buyer fitted an LS1.
The vehicle was 8 months old when the saga started (timeline for the above was 12 months), had 13,000km on it (first service was at 15,000)....
If the cocksuckers at ford Pattaya told me to call my insurance company when I dropped it off they would have paid for the repairs.
The Meth One's Fuck The Best !!
I've got the 2.0 DC GRAND X 6AT 2wd with iSmart. I got it last December. 13,000 kms on the clock now. Loads room inside, and I find it really comfortable to drive. There's a 10" infotainment system with True music and TomTom sat nav. I think the build quality is at least equal if not better than the Mazda BT50 I had before.
I've had two issues with it.
First, Just after we got it, we started getting an intermittent buzzing noise from one speaker. It only happened when the lights were on. It took a few trips to a local dealer to discover that one wire behind the dashboard wasn't completely insulated.
Second was when I parked under a tree and it got invaded by some ants (Bastards). They set up home in the fuse box and shorted out the starter relay. Not really MG's fault.
I totally agree with the comment that you need to check out the dealer that you buy from. There are a number that don't want to see you after you've handed over the cash, but that's probably true for many dealerships.
Am I happy with the MG?.........YES.

Do not walk beside me, for I may not lead. Do not walk ahead of me for I may not follow. Just pretty much leave me the fuck alone!
Had me first problem. My reversing lights stopped working along with reverse camera and audible warning. Wife took it into the dealers to get it checked out. They claim that the cable had possibly been chewed by a rat. They wouldn't replace the cable as they claimed animal damage is not covered on the warranty. I fail to see that as it cannot be confirmed the damage was actually caused by a rat. All they were prepared to do was repair the cable. Dunno yet if the wife had to pay for that.
Been here 15 years and never had a problem with rats. I have 3 dogs and nothing gets into the garden without them creating a racket. So I call bullshit to the rat story. Any one else have a similar problem?
I had an after market rear camera added to the truck. After a few months it flickered and died. One year warranty so back to the shop. He told me the same story, well one word in Thai, rat. I had to pay.
I wanted to see the rat-eaten cable and the language barrier suddenly became impassable. So I was not 100% certain, but it is an unprotected cable and I know from repeated experience with my UK domestic alarm cabling that mice really love certain plastics. They use it for nest building.
I mentioned in my previous post about the starter relay being attacked by ants. The engineer also pointed out a couple of places around the engine bay where rats had been active. Footprints, rat shit and gnawed bits of plastic. Nothing too drastic, but it was there to be seen.

The alleged language barrier. No one agreed to understand. To be fair, I never heard anyone at the shop speak a word of English. Anyway, my best efforts to communicate "Show me the cable." were met with blank stares. Bottom line the replacement cable did the trick so I don't think that could be their fault.
Okay.
I am free to wriggle in the dirt under my truck any time I choose to do so.
They never refused to show me the cable, they simply failed to understand the question.
It was a cable that need replacing, they replaced it and it works and it cost a couple of hundred Baht. I am fine with that.
Hi, did you buy the pickup finally ?
