Wife and I picked up our new Pajero Sport yesterday. We did the key blessing, burned some incense, installed the Buddha Bobble head, got the flowers on the dash and at 10:39am drove it off the lot.
From the lot near Kaset Nawamin area, I drove us 643km back to Lampang Had a few stops along the way to pick up crap. Anyways great way to break it in.
My first road experience comments FWIIW
Pros:
- Ride quality is quite comfortable. Did not ride like a truck as many have said. But keep in mind it is not a car.
- Interior road noise was minimal.
- I like the overall ergonomics, stereo was easy to navigate through using the controls on the steering wheel, same with AC
- Road view was quite nice being up a bit high, albeit I may lower it in the coming months as I will be adding a Aero kit and likely some better wheels.
- Dual climate zone AC is very convenient as my wife loves being sub zero and I do not.
- Handling was good
- Runs smooth at 120 to 140km on the highway
- Back seats have plenty of leg room and it has a drop down DVD player with wireless headphones.
- Push button start and remote door lock
- Styling is nice with clean body lines
- Brakes are outstanding
Cons:
- Its a little sluggish off from a stop light. Its a large SUV. Being we have the Turbo Diesel option I already contacted the ECU shop for a tuner. (I always like messin around with my vehicles). Having a Turbo is free power. Just turn up the boost
- When you have the back seats down to carry something the passenger seat gets back up against the front seat limiting it from going all the way back. This isn't an issue for a shorter person but if you are 6'2 and above this might be a deal breaker if you keep the back seats down all the time.
- For me, too many bells and whistles. I do not like all the front warning crap and side lane alerts. But that's me. I like driving and turn them all off. Wife loves them all and its her ride, not mine. I am a truck guy.
- No auto rear hatch close button, albeit you can add one
I will add more feedback over the coming weeks as I drive it a bit more to break it in.
