    Sat navs --can you update

Have a Sat Nav in my 4 year old Honda Civic and its not a patch on my wife's telephone

Does anyone know if Honda do an improved upgrade or can you download a better one from a different provider

Just a note that a lot of European cars do not come with onboard sat nav for exactly this reason.

With most you can get map updates dont know about Honda, try Google.

    There you go

Sometimes what is on the maps are not what is on the ground and we have been led down farm tracks that are shown on maps as roads and the GPS sees them as the shortest distance to a destination.

Get a dashboard phone holder for your wife's mobile.

If it is just maps that is a problem then you can get updates. If you don't like the system (is it a Garmin that Honda use?) then tough.

For the older cars, like mine, it is cheaper to get a new GPS than to update the maps, which are on DVD. I still prefer to route plan with a map and only use the GPS as a guide when a road is closed.

If its manufactured by Garmin you may be able to get a automatic update from them, the dearer garmin brand ones you can updaet every year, base models you have to pay for it
Vehicle manufacturers do updates on the maps also but they are not free from my own personal experience
