I would have liked to have said the Landrover Defender as well, it's not really a car. Maybe somebody else can say it for me since I made the rules up.

One of my favorites was the 56 Chrysler Newport New Yorker.
Had a 354ci hemi 2 speed push button transmission, power steering power window and power seat.

    Mine was black and white.

XK150 coupe, Jag engine was a piece of shit, but with a 283 Chev V8 it was a nice dependable car.

Here is the last thing I built before I left the states, and I sold it.

    1935 ford, 350/350 Chev with 400 turbo hydro and a 12 bolt.

A great car no doubt JoGeAr! Although not as good as the XU1's and E49 Chargers in my opinion

That being said I certainly wouldn't say no to owning one. My bank balance would though, those things go for up to AU$1,000,000 now!!!

Bit of a fan of the old EJ/EH Holden ute ... might buy one if I ever go back and can afford the juice they drink and the registration.

BG. Please explain why you think that the Jaguar XK engine is so bad.

Over the years have owned several XK engined Jaguars and Daimlers, including two XK 150 coupes, a 3.4 Mk 1 saloon, a 3.8 Mk 2, two 4.2 XJ6 saloons, a 4.2 Daimler saloon and a 4.2 Daimler coupe. I never had a problem with a single engine, and to be honest, any engine that has been in production for 50 years can't be bad. Maybe it's just that some of your countrymen don't know how to use a manual gearbox (thus abusing the engine), on the other hand the quality of maintenance provided in the U.S is just not up to standard!

When i was growing up my dad had some nice cars Astons, Jags and a really nice 630csi that i remember well, i carried on from where he left off but nothing as nice as what he had..

My all time fave is the Ferrari 250 GTO, have only ever seen one in the flesh and it was the prettiest car i have ever seen!
didn't get to look under the bonnet though.

Don't know how to do the picture thing.

^^^In the US Jag engines were beyond most mechanics. The small block chevy 283ci V8 is one of the best engines ever made and was fairly idiot proof.
I had a pal who put a 327ci corvette V8 in a Healy 3000. Had to weld the door shut because everytime he reved it up the frame would twist and pop the doors open.

The small Ford 289ci V8 also found it's way into many Jags and Healys.

I can remember about 68/69 the Kent police had a 3 Litre Capri, with 4 wheel drive, for test and evaluation. That did go around corners, I know, as I was fortunate enough to be taken for a run in it, by a hard driving traffic sergeant!

Suppose that twin overhead cam technology, was a little two much for them, as would have been the setting up of twin SU carburetters as fitted to the XK 150.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder! But for me the XK120 with it's narrow bumpers, is a far better looking car than the 140!
