A bit different with motorcycles since I can purchase some Japanese brands here for less money than my homeland. Most cars, except for pickups, are more money than I can purchase at home. It just depends on what you are used to.

I would be very tempted to go down the route of kawasaki W650 for the same kind of idea but at a much cheaper price.

I had a contract at the Triumph factory in chonburi a few years ago. Fantastic just to be there. They have a wall paper with all their models year by year. Got a good shot of me next to 1959.

Here's an idea of what is out there. Happy hunting. Kawasaki W650 Good condition | North: Chiang Mai & Region | Motorcycles for Sale: 500 - 999cc | Bahtsold.com | Baht&Sold

Nope, certainly not a cretin. He is a big Lad who can take care of himself .

I would love to see you say that to his face.

He didn't get a test ride. Put his deposit down before they were launched.

Anyway, back on topic, a Tiger and the sporty 675 triple would always get space in my dream garage.

If you are handy with spanners, why not consider a Stalion? Same looks, and loads of spare cash to spend on extras. 🏍🏍🏍

The prices of the Triumph bikes came down a lot when they changed the he status of the company, at the start of their business here they were registered in the free trade zone to focus on export mainly. They now manufacture "on shore" so the 100%+ import tax no longer applies. Bonneville is approx. THB210,000

Don't have one, would love an old original or another Brit oldie to mess around with in Prachuab, but import is a mess, shame as there are a lot of bikes available in India, originals.

    Hi AndyCap..thanks for the advice.
The Triumph is starting at 420000..baht.
Had a ride of the BMW F800GS and the R1200 GS.adventure..
Nice bikes especially the 1200gs..but at 1.00650 baht it should be..
In the US its only around 595000 baht..16500 $ US..
Problem with being tall is here , we are not really catered for..except the BMW's
    lots of seat height...........

FARK! Sorry guys, complete typo...the Triumphs are indeed starting at THB420,000 not the cheaper price I wrote in my befuddled state yesterday evening.

I wouldn't want one, but have been round the plant many times, it's impressive and they do a very good job in my opinion, top quality manufacturing facility. Exports around the world, success story all round.

Biff, the imported bikes carry a huge 100%+ import tax, this is the reason the BMW is so much more expensive than in the states, etc. Don't know what the used market is like for price, but anything imported is going to carry a hefty tax charge.

Maybe look at the speed triple? That's made locally now, also some bikes from Ducatti.

I get what your saying with height, they even put smaller wheels on the Triumphs at Brit Bikes to suit shorter Thai clients.

Thanks AndyCap..did a google and Triumphs in..

The motorcycles used during chase scene in film The Great Escape were 1961 Triumph TR6 Trophy models disguised as German BMW R75 motorcycles. The star of the movie, Steve McQueen did much of the riding for the film himself although Bud Ekins performed the famous jump scene as McQueen's stunt double.

It's well known that heartthrob Gere rode a 1978 Bonneville T140E in 'An Officer And A Gentleman'. In fact the bike was one of the stars of the movie. Producers Paramount did a deal with Meriden (by then on its last legs) whereby two bikes were supplied by Seattle dealer Dewey's Cycle Shop.

    Marlon Brando..Triumph Thunderbird..GT

Tisha Sterling and Clint Eastwood on a Triumph Bonneville in 1968’s Coogan’s Bluff

Pamela Anderson’s motorcycle in the 1996 movie Barb Wire is a 885cc Triumph Thunderbird made at the then new Triumph factory.

Brad Pitt rides a 650cc Triumph T110 in 2008’s The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.

When Angelia Jolie hijacks a bike in 2010’s Salt, she takes a Triumph Street Triple R

In the early seasons of The Walking Dead, Norman Reedus rides a chopped 1960s Triumph Bonneville. The producers spotted the Chopper and thought it perfect for the show, left the stickers on and introduced it in Season 1 in 2010.

In 2015’s Jurassic World, Chris Pratt rode a Triumph Scrambler.

In the 1988 remake of The Blob, Kevin Dillon used two Triumphs. A 500cc T100R Tiger and a 200cc T20 Tiger Cub for the jumps.

A 1974 episode of Happy Days with Henry Winkler on the Fonz’s Triumph Trophy TR5 with Ron Howard.

James Dean owned motorcycles all his life, Royal Enfields and Indians. The last bike he rode before he died in 1955 was this Triumph Trophy TR5.

The Great Escape, there's a trip down memory lane...I thought Steve Maqueen was racing for Triumph at one time or another, he seems to have had a long relationship with the Brand.

I met the present owner once John Blor (might not be the correct spelling), he was a real character.

Just came back from Moto Expo, saw all the bikes..and the ladies..no revealing clothing..kept getting in the way of the photographers..

    Saw a Yamaha classic 800..looks good..also a Honda classic CB1100 EX..that will more likely be my new bike..available now..it has a bigger seat height..imported.
Also saw a good range of clothing and helmets...
It certainly is the way to go if you want it all condensed in one area..
Moto guzzi has a presence in Bangkok now..next door to Vespa..in 4 Square oi 24 .Sukhumvit ,I think.
