    Car insurance help.

I'm insured with Viriyah Insurers. I had an accident a few days ago. The insurers picked up the car and took it for repair. The Toyota dealers phoned to say the car is ready but I have to pay 1,600 Baht. What for? The insures will not pay for the oils or coolant used in the repairs. Is this acceptable?

I'm fcuking livid about this extra cost. I didn't cause the accident and yet I pay even though I'm innocent. What civilized countries allows the innocent to be punished?

Might be best to cough up the paltry amount to retrieve your car then.

No choice really as I've an hospital appointment in Korat on Tuesday. Already cancelled one last week cuz no car.
You may think it's a paltry amount but the money isn't the issue and never was. My wife checked the insurance documents and it didn't/doesn't show that replacement lubricants are excluded, and are the responsability of the car owner.

They had to change the radiator. Oils I'm not sure about. The repair document is in Thai. To get the radiator out I don't know if any resevoirs/pipes had to be disconnected.

That was my thinking. I get the wife to phone the Insurance agent. He confirms that coolant/lubricants are paid for by the insured. My wife checks the docs. Nothing is mentioned. She phoned the Insurance manager. He doesn't return her call.

PS, the money paid is paid to the dealers before they release the car.

Any descent mechanic would collect the coolant/oils and put back, but here no such thing and only really poor fitters, just a simple rip off in my opinion.
