I looked at the Ranger and Everest yesterday. Both disappointing inside. Don't know where the reviews are coming from but other than the driving position of the Ford, the rest was shit. Didn't bother test driving it. Salesmen tried to tempt me with the 2.2 Everest titanium by showing me the 3.2. Again, shit, but I did test drive it and out of the SUVs of this size, the Pajero still feels better when cornering, and the interior, which is odd for a Mits, was better laid out and much more modern without being OTT, in my opinion.

Yes, indeed. we're looking at buying a new car and they had the Everest on show at the local Tesco store. She was most impressed ( it's big and red) I was not.
We asked the sales guy about servicing etc and given that he didn't have a clue it was a non starter.

Comically I will add, despite Ford's service, Our Honda Accord wouldn't start when we were leaving (2015 model and two dead batteries) but they were kind enough to sort us a battary out.

I really don't know what to buy. I'm tempted to go Toyota, possibly a Yaris. We don't need another pickup.

I was gonna say that Hondas are very reliable; had mine over 6 years without a single problem (excluding the wife's crashes...).

    ^^ oops...

I'm still going with the Pajero for my next buy, but holding off another year as I can use the BILs pick-up for a couple of months at a time. Interested in hearing any experiences (good or bad) from people who own one.

Do you guys think the Pajero would be worth the extra money over the CRV?

Depends what you want. Remember the Pajero and similar are stuck somewhere in between being an SUV and off roader. As far as off road goes the Paj is the better equippeed for it, but some find the suspension too compliant on the road. Fecked up road warrant it though. For me, ground clearance is important which my CRV doesn't have.

    Prices are similar btw.

CRV a tad under 1.4. Some deals might be had due to the new version coming soon.

Pajero 1.2 to 1.4 and a bit for the 4WD.

95% of your threads JJ are about motor vehicles.

    Serious question:

Have you ever creamed in your pants in a car/bike showroom?

Sadly, my work involves test driving cars and motorcycles for various people and sites!

The CRV is a hairdresser's car.
Pajero is a great motor for the price, imo. Traded in the old one (5 yo) for last year's model, and never had anything but great service and an enjoyable ride (oo-er) from the Mitsu.

Keep the one you have. Having owned the previous model myself, I was really disappointed with the drive of the new one.

I am waiting to hear from Mits with regards to the transmission error while on the road. Considering Mits is priding Itself on all the new safety features, the loss of power due to transmission failure on the toll or motorway could have been disasterous!

a review of all the SUVs - pajero , fortuner , everest and isuzu

Family 4×4 SUV Comparison: Ford Everest v Isuzu MU-X v Mitsubishi Pajero Sport v Toyota Fortuner v Nissan Patrol

The Pajero Sport is the glamour car here. Its cabin presentation is sublime and its price-point beyond keen. If you favour urban use and only hit the dusty trail on the odd occasion, and you value creature comforts, then look no further. You also get the best warranty. But you also miss out on seven seats, and even the middle row isn’t brilliant. The 68-litre tank is also a touch underdone. Still if you only need five seats, it might be your choice.
And that’s why, holistically, the Toyota Fortuner GXL wins. While it doesn’t top many areas — engine response and NVH notwithstanding — it also just does most things to a high standard. And sometimes that’s what constitutes a winner. Its cabin is pleasant though we wish it has sat-nav, its road manners above average, its off-road nous unquestioned, and its ownership credentials bolstered by Toyota’s vast network of dealers. Only that clumsy cargo area lets it down.
Has the Toyota pulled a Steven Bradbury? Yes and no. It’s not the best car here in many areas, but it’s probably the best all-rounder. That said, we hope this test and conclusion has warned you off a simplistic first-to-last result. Each is fit for purpose in its own way. Let us know below if you want to ask any more questions.

^suppose it depends where you read. Other reviewers rated the Pajero over the Fortuner. And here of course, it has 7 seats. Agree about the middle seats not being the most comfortable.

Common complaint about the Pajero is an overly compliant suspension on roads, but off it it is way above other models.

Considering the price of it and all its safety features and 4x4, it's a reasonable SUV. Think toyota starts at 1.6 for 4wd? Too many bloody options for the Fortuna.
