Fords made and (guess) makes some of the most respected cars in the UK.
There are fine fordmobiles in many parts of the car driving world.
Ford in Thailand have not lived up to the hard earned name of the Corporation.
They should indeed do something about it, perhaps that is happening now.
I hope and trust they (and GM) have graduated from the days when they were pushing SUV's at short term high profit margins (w/ low technology & innovation), while falling behind in all other, higher growth areas. Personally I'm a believer in the Ford corporation (more than GM), but they do have some catching up to do in Thailand- which is an important gateway to SE Asian and, it would appear, soon sth western China.
What was the first warning light warning about? My truck is 11 months old, has 40,000 km on the millage. When I drove my truck on Monday, during my long trip of 480 KM, after about 200KM I got a warning light (little yellow light) and I slowed down, after a few minutes I pulled over and restarted the engine to see if I could reset the warning. The second I started to drive I got the same warning with 1 more additional warning, it was the engine light.
The "Check Engine" light is the mechanic's best friend. Out of curiosity, did you fill up while leaving the engine running?
You do know that there is a diagnostic tool that plugs into your car's computer that tells exactly why the check engine light came on. I'm guessing a service center would have one.
Not much wrong with the product or the technology. Just the parts support and the after sales service. It's the same with any product in Thailand, the first ingrained instinct is to deny blame and save face. Not so much on behalf of the product, but personally. The default position is, the product is fine, and we are looking at this as a westerner, totally bemused by the face issue.
Ford needs to sort the supply chain and the customer facing service issues.
The Ford reputation is not all you believe Sabang. They were known as Dagenham dustbins for years during the industrial malaise of the 70s.
Reputation is like virginity, you only lose it once.
Having said all that, I have owned at least 10 Fords and had the usual range of experiences, from adequate to acceptable. My first Mondeo was a revelation.
Get the product right and the after sales sorted. Problem solved.
It's what Honda and Toyota have done in UK and it not only works, it promotes repeat business
Heart of Gold and a Knob of butter.
I have the Ford IDS. When trying to fix my Ranger often after throwing an dash warning light the tool would not find any faults.
IDS Home
Suppose it differs from one country to the next.
In the UK I had a repmobile Ford Modeo 2.0 estate. Never had a problem and a very comfy car. Was impressed that I bought the ST200 V6 estate afterwards then later a 2.5 V6 saloon version. Not once did I have a mechanic or electrical fault in the 3 of them. All did over 100,000 miles.
Worst in terms of problems, but the fastest car I've had was a Citroen Saxo Tour De Corse. Mad as hell but forever repairing it.
Off the line this was a rush and sounded like a V8 from its poxy 1.6 engine.
You bullied, you laughed, you lied, you lost!
Better to think inside the pub, than outside the box?
I apologize if any offence was caused. unless it was intended.
You people, you think I know feck nothing; I tell you: I know feck all
Those who cannot change their mind, cannot change anything.
No, mine looked like this. 20 made in 1997.
Replaced engine after 3 months, gearbox 6.
Got to cry foul. The San Remo version had the rear spoiler. Isn't that Loeb's car?
Only Ford I've had was one of these.
^ The great and one and only S. Loeb started his world championship run with a xsara.
Have a 8 year old Ford Escape(made in the Philippines) with no problems, had a 5 year old Focus that had ongoing problems and ditched it last month...The Escape will keep as its a good runner.
Cheers
F250 is a good unit in the states. I had a 2004 supercab. I loved it. I bought new then and had no trouble intill I rolled it in an ice storm. Ive never considered selling my 1973 Mustang. Owned it 30 years. The body on that one is better than mine. Should out live me if kept up properly. Had a 1977 F250 crew cab with the 400 modified engine. Granny gear ect. I sold it to the brother of the guy I bought it from many years later. He still drives it as a work truck. They dont make em like they used to. I do like Toyota but am a Ford guy at heart. All mechanical things will have issues. Good luck watever road you go down. That hylux or Fourtuner (spelling?)are verry popular for a reason.
