I have been having an issue with the Kinlon 250 for the last 4 weeks - since I got it back from the bike workshop.
I had asked them to change the tubes in the tires , change the oil and the fuel filter and check the bearings.
it starts very easily and idles ok
the first I noticed the issue was on the ride home - about 10-12 klms
the first 4-6 klms is low speed through the city centre area - 40-50 kph
then it is up to 80-85 for a straight of 3-4 klms and then a curve which I normally go back one gear and take at about 65-70 and then back to third for a corner.
when I backed off the throttle for the curve it sort of hiccupped a little , and then when I went back to third it backfired a couple of times and the engine died.
I thought the workshop monkeys had drained all my fuel , so I shook the tank and it started first time and on I went.
when I next went out on my way for fuel it started fine and ran ok ( maybe a slight roughness ) and was good for about 4 klms and then played the same trick - engine lost power , backfired as I changed down gear and died when I held in the clutch
I stopped for 10 seconds , hit the starter and it fired and idled no problems.
I then put fuel in it - it was about half full ( the workshop monkeys only stole 1.5 litres by my calculations ) and it ran ok.
over the next couple of weeks I came to the conclusion that it seemed to be ok when the tank was full , but the problems occurred as the tank got to half full and below.
I took it back to the workshop last saturday and explained the problems ( in my non existant french and their miniscule english ) and asked them to take it out on the highway to see the issue.
they told me they could not replicate the problem , though I saw that they had re routed the fuel line and filter , and the bike ran ok back out to camp - though a reasonably full tank.
this morning I headed off from town at 5am , reasonably cold ( it is mid winter here ) , a full tank of fuel and it ran fine for the first 7-8 klms until I backed off the accellerator and I could feel it getting rough.
it did not actually die or backfire , but it started to exibit the beginnings - this route I used I run in second for about 1-2 klms at about 30 over some dirt and sand , then about 40-50 for 1-2klms then up to 80-85 for about 6klms before I come right back to second to go left at a round about - it was here that I noticed the beginnings of the same issue. accellerating away from the round about it performed just fine.
does anyone who has read this far have any thoughts ?
