Something to keep Terry out of the Gay Bars, here....

My Dad had a red Merc like that, with the stand up rectangle headlights

The second location of the Vintage Car Market (the original is at The Walk Kaset-Nawamin on Tue and Thu nights) is situated at Baan Silom community mall near Silom Soi 19.

In operation for about a month now, and held every Wednesday and Friday from around noon to midnight, the down-to-earth market sees a small number of old-fashioned cars park around Baan Silom's driveway and sell stuff from their car boots.

The products are mainly vintage or homemade, from necklaces and vintage-style earrings to shoes, dresses to denim.

You'll also find a range of authentic Thai food and desserts served from cute little stalls. Must-try dishes include rice with chili dip and condiments, crispy fried fishballs dip with sweet chilli sauce, Thai sausages (sai oua), and fried squid eggs (if you are brave enough to give it a go!).

There's also a food truck, Hip Hot Dog, that does hot dogs and burgers, a Thai-style soda stall and other rotating pop-up shops.

Not satisfied? Nearby restaurants include 661 Silom, new Turkish joint Ottoman, and Lebanese favorite Nadimos.

The MB is a W115 last produced in 1976, the yellow car is an early Toyota Corolla lift back first produced in 1974, first Toyota lift back, ya don't see many of those.

Hope the red one is a Citroen, they are one of the few manufacturers brave/mad enough to actually build it.

The yellow one isn't a Jeep, it has eight slots in its radiator grill, Jeeps have seven.

It's a bit awkwardly proportioned, which leads me to believe that it's either some form of Chinese copy of a Wrangler for the domestic market based on another car's subframe (albeit the girl/background don't look terribly Chinese) or its some type of kit car.

    I'm going for a kit car, though I haven't a clue what.

    - "For guys that like to surf"

    - The body tub looks like, well, a bathtub

    - The door sill looks quite high

    - Piddly little wheels for the size of the wheel arches

    - Weird looking front suspension mounts, angle looks wrong for normal shocks?

    - Looks to have a undercut front end

    - Nice wipe-clean seats

    - The clincher is the registration thing on the side of the vehicle - AZึ 6485T. Looks to me a bit like an Arizona boat registration.

I reckon it's amphibious. Bet it's wheels fold up when it's afloat.

The only amphibious car I can name is the (anyone?):

Yup, Amphicar 770. Well done Troy and Reddog.

I've just Googled 'Amphibious Jeep' and got this:

It's a Gator apparently, whatever that is.

BTW Reddog, bung up a pic of your SM if you have one, it'd be good to see.

OK, it's a bit obscure but it was in production for several years and is currently still available on a build-to-order basis (if you have a spare US$ 650k):

Aha, good find QC. Now we know.

Makes me remember that I also know the name of another amphibious vehicle, albeit without so much 'ho hum flirt factor':

    Any takers?:
