    91 gas. Caltex vs PTT

When 91 changed from pink to yellow, Caltex gas was costing me 300 baht every 7 days whereas PTT was just 200 baht every 8 days to refill my motorbike.

This has now switched. I can barely ride 55k on PTT 91 now, but Caltex gives me more than twice that.

    Has anyone else noticed this?

Benzene 91 was discontinued this year. All you can get is gasohol 91 and the color code is green. Maybe you are using gasohol. The standardized color coding has not been totally implemented by all retailers yet.

^ You're right. It is now green.

And Caltex's juice gives twice more bang to the buck than PTT's.

could you please change this to kilometers per liter? I dont have a clue what your on about as there are no figures for liters used or kilometers driven.

I drive and use PTT 95 gasohol is why I ask.

^ 95 is the red orange one, it is better than 91, certainly on motosais that have carboretors.

Just wondering if the PTT 91 you are using is E85? That might account for a difference?

PTT uses green for their E85 blend. They have not conformed to the governments color coding system because they have invested a lot in their own fuel branding. Gasohol 91 at PTT is orange.

I filled up with 91 Benzine (yellow) at PTT 2 days ago.

I said it was discontinued this year.
They are still getting rid of their stocks in the boondocks. I haven't seen 91 benzene in Bangkok in months.

^ Your post #2 definitely said "was discontinued this year" NOT "is being discontinued this year" which tends to suggest that it is a fait accompli.

^Well if I knew my words were going to be parsed by an anal nit picker I would have worded it more carefully.
Yes, I purposely tried to mislead you by saying the sale of benzene 91 was discontinued this year, which is true, instead of
    "being discontinued".

91 is shit. The greedy gas companies knock off another octane rating. It was 95 then 92 and now it is 91? Thieves. Burn them all in their own fuel.

I will try caltex and thanks for the info. I can confirm that i always got more from caltex diesel than ptt. Havent used ptt for the Pajero for well over 2 years unless there has been no alternative. Caltex, shell and esso i have prefered. In that order too!

I've been using the PTT stations probably 'cause they have the better food outlets 7-11's & so forth. Seem cleaner too.

It appears that PTT and Caltex are merging their refinery operations in Thailand.
Shell and Esso operate independent refineries.
