Should check out the Pro Series. It turns heads everywhere we go. Still, not trying to convert anyone - each to his own, as they say. Opinions are only that and not to be confused with fact. Check it out on the linky

The BT-50 looks like some street racer's idea of what a truck should be - cruzing down Hollywood Blvd. Cargo bed looks small too.
The Ford Ranger looks big and Macho on the road but I don't trust its running gear. Minor details like wiring harnesses available for animals to gain access to also give me pause.
A Deplorable Bitter Clinger
Just drive safely with any pick up truck and never ever allow people to sit in the back of the truck.BANGKOK - At least 16 people, most of them construction workers, were killed when a pickup truck crashed into a tree on a rural road in Thailand's northeast on Monday, police said.
The pickup truck was carrying a number of construction workers in the back when it hit the tree next to a road in Ban Dan district in Buriram province, 300 kilometres (190 miles) northeast of Bangkok, police Col. Suthee Setthawong said.
He said that 10 men, including the 24-year-old driver, and 6 women, were killed, while at least five others were injured and taken for hospital treatment.
"The accident happened on a straight stretch of the road and there was no rain. No other cars were involved. At this point, it's likely he was falling asleep while the car was travelling at high speed," Suthee told The Associated Press in a telephone interview.
Police also found a tablet of methamphetamine in the driver's pocket and a bottle of alcohol next to his seat, Suthee said.
Police said they were working to identify the construction workers, as well as their nationalities. The driver was a Thai national.
I have a Hilux, same as I owned in Australia and I love them. Bought the FIL a Tata ( heavy duty) of all, but he uses it to transport rice from the rice mill he owns and the Tata can carry twice the load as a hilux. Seen too many pick up trucks with a broken axle because they usely tend to overload the vehicles.
With the Tata it's almost impossible to overload and although not 4WD it has a great ground clearance, very effective with all the potholes around here.
If everything seems under control, you're not going fast enough.

Nicki, I'm sorry, but you cannot get it in orange!
Sorry young fella, we can get you a brand new Mazda BT-50, just like you wanted, but, but..., it doesn't come in orange.
I'll have an orange one please.
Cycling should be banned!!!
Just to update the accident with pick up truck in Buriram, now 19! Dead and 7 still in hospital, so all together there were 26 people in the 1 pick up truck, fking unbelievable.
^ keep on topic or I will close this thread
^ go on then
anyway, OP, what exactly do you want a pickup truck for
OK I have reread your OP
get another the same, or an Izuzu
Driver was obviously trying to save on fuel or something. Everybody knows 30 is the minimum.Originally Posted by Wizard of Oz

But I can't say enough for Mazda customer service has phoned my wife sent pictures of the pick up when it arrived at the garage. So if the pick up is half as good as their service I will be well happy. As for Ford and their service say no more
How do you know they do not hold there value, i have not seen a secondhand one for sale
We got our 4x4 4 door auto 2.2 wildtrack in 9/2012 and i have been asked twice if i would sell it by people who do not want to wait for a new one
No rangers in stock at the ford dealer in Phuket, the mazda dealer has plenty of bt50 in stock about 30 in different models
^we will see. Traditionally in Thailand, the Jap vehicles (Toyota, Izuzu, Honda) hold their price better. But, Ford are improving; better vehicles, higher sales, etc, so we will see. It'll be good for the market if more quality vehicles are available.
I'm still not sure at this stage that I'd buy outside of the Jap brands for a comparable vehicle, but the current Hilux is not compatible to the latest Ranger, imho.
How are you finding the Ranger, any issues? Driving well? Bullying any Fortuners/minivans?

I have a real truck not a pony
My vigo 4x4 has traveled 440,000 kilometres wait to see the Fords around 7 year old.
Now I have a Fortuner to go along with the Vigo.
I did look at the Fords but have to give them time to see if they fall over in 2 or 3 years.:deadhorsebig
As if I have a Ford ranger now it would be like floging a dead horse

It's a matter of finding the best vehicle at the right time. I don't think anybody said the Ranger is shit, but after Fondles experience and the general quality (or lack of) of American mass produced cars (Chevrolet being the obvious ones to avoid), when compared to the Japanese equivalent, means that folks worry about the servicing, running costs, resale, etc.
Everyone knows that the Toyota Hilux is an excellent pick-up. It's just taking them a very long time to bring out the next generation which would make it more car like to sit in and drive; a preferred quality for many folks.
Fortuners on the other hand...
