You do realize they both share the same ratios in gearboxes (auto and manual) as well as final ratio in the differential don't you.

Guess you'd better put up the brochures on that one.
Was comparing like for like on the Australian Mazda and Ford websites.
Yes it states the gear ratios are the same. All I can say in my defense is that I took a Mazda BT50 Pro out for a test drive in the morning, fairly smooth ride if unspectucular. I took the Ford Ranger out for a test drive after lunch and nearly went through the windscreen when I dropped it into second at a corner.
Did you drop it into second from 6th or something, compression lock will throw you through the windscreen.

Thanks for the advice, Earl, but I'm still gonna spend the extra 500K- if I buy a lesser truck, BB won't be nearly as jealous, which of course is my main motivation for buying it at all.

    I still want that Raptor, though- 400+HP, 400+TQ- it's a beast.
There he goes. One of God's own prototypes. A high-powered mutant of some kind never even considered for mass production. Too weird to live, and too rare to die.

I disagree- this is a bone-stock Raptor being tested (the suspension installed by SVT is pretty awesome):

I heard some nutter bought a load of hummers in India for organized tours. The nobbend didn't take into consideration the tracks weren't wide enough and lost a ton of cash.

I bet the Ranger, BT-50 and Toyota can get many places that/those monster can't. (Standard form)

Sorry can't see the vids, youtube blocked at work. I will check them out later though.

The Raptor is based on the F-150- it's bigger than the Ranger, but not by that much- the wheelbase is only 15cm more (the fact they're so close is the reason Ford won't sell both in the same market).

    T6 is 10% smaller than the F-150.

That Toyota Landcrusier has a Chevy 210 Jap copy for an engine. Best in-line 6 cylinder made IMO.

Yepper the original 4.2 Liter engine is top kit. The low end grunt make it the perfect four wheeling engine. Easier to drive than the v8 modified rigs and sips gasoline because you're just creeping along at idling speed.

Agreed, looks impressive. Didn't realize how similar the Ranger was to it.

^ not really. As I've said before, I've had fast(ish...) cars, but they've only been about 125hp! A Renault 5 GT Turbo and a Lotus Elan. I had a Rover that had a lot of horsepower (300ish? maybe less), but it was nowhere near as fun/good to drive as the other 2.

I'd probably be happier with the 2.2 that the 3.2 Ranger, although I'd like the extra safety features of the 3.2...

^Speedy little bastard. You sit almost prone and the feeling while driving is like being on a skate board at 100MPH asphalt passing by your shoulders and screaming fast when your really tearing through the mountains. Rear engine and all, perfect car for the times. Now I want a Ford GT 700HP and mid engine.

Mate had one of these Fiat jobbies. It also felt very fast being low to the ground. It did handle well but it couldn't keep up with my poxy Citroen AX GT at the time.

Yeah, an older Lotus was a lot of fun (for the ten minutes per month when it was running properly).

    ^^

Now an X1/9 shows up- my god, there are some gluttons for punishment on this thread.

You guys must have been in really good shape when you were younger (from all the miles you had to push your cars home or to a service station).
