WOW, makes the 2.2 Hi Rider Ranger seems like a bargain at Bt.699.000.

Is an electric seat really worth that much more, to me. no it is not.

The Ford has harder suspension and gear ratios more suited to driving with a full load of cement in the back. The Mazda is more suited to someone wanting a truck to drive around in town. They are both monsters though.

A lot of my friends in the States think the Wildtrak (which isn't sold there) is 'cute' due to its small engine and measly 5-foot bed. I think it's a great truck, but unless it's got a 6.2L and a 7-foot bed they consider a pick-up to be a toy.
There he goes. One of God's own prototypes. A high-powered mutant of some kind never even considered for mass production. Too weird to live, and too rare to die.

A Camry is considered a full-sized luxury sedan here. I'm due for some massive culture shock if I ever go back.

You do realize they both share the same ratios in gearboxes (auto and manual) as well as final ratio in the differential don't you.

Guess you'd better put up the brochures on that one.

^ I also read on several reviews that they were set up differently.

The hi-rider auto is 799k; the better specced Mazda is 850kish, just a tad under the Wildtrak, but it's slightly better specced, imo - differently specced, so they don't measure up perfectly.

The Ford is the better vehicle.

Doesn't take much to impress you does it Boo? 5 stars no less. Can't say you're not obsessed with this orange shit box. Perhaps there is a God? You may end up with one of these heathen things. ^ I like the XLT, and that's actually what I tried to order (all the colours look nice).

I saw a red XLT today- it's not bad, but I disagree re: the front end- the monochromatic look makes it appear a bit plain- a black bumper would look good on it, IMHO.

I don't plan to do anything to my truck that can't be done in-house by Ford.

Given the choice, I'd take this factory model, but it will never make it to Thailand:

Yes it states the gear ratios are the same. All I can say in my defense is that I took a Mazda BT50 Pro out for a test drive in the morning, fairly smooth ride if unspectucular. I took the Ford Ranger out for a test drive after lunch and nearly went through the windscreen when I dropped it into second at a corner.

Actually that's just a security guard who's there to provide size perspective- that truck belongs to Chicago White Sox pitcher Martin Buehrle, who has stupid money and can throw it away on stuff like that.

I believe it's based on a Mack truck designed to pull 18-wheel trailers.
