Speaking of Ducati, a friend in the States just had his Panigale delivered- it's tough to beat a Duc for style- the 795 is a great deal for Thailand.

I popped in the Honda dealer this morning and looked a CRF250L over in person. Very nice looking bike it is indeed. And I'm not easily impressed. Its got a more comfortable seat and riding position than the KLX250.
The fit and finish on very close par with the Yamaha WR250R which is the undisputed king of this genre/class of motorcycle.(but nearly twice the money )
The had a very pretty white one for 140K. I'm very tempted to buy one.

I like the white one. For 140K, it looks like a good deal.

^It looks even better up close. The workmanship is tip-top.
Its almost too pretty! I'd feel kinda guilty getting it filthy dirty in the mud and only washing it when I rode it in a rain shower.

Are they not normally made in a factory?

Not in supermoto form before this version was introduced in 2003. It's called a 'factory supermoto' because Honda did the conversion in-house and sold them through their dealerships already set-up- before this model came out, the supermoto conversion could only be done by buying a standard XR-250R, ordering the parts through the Honda catalog (which could be pricey, especially for the wheels), and then doing it yourself.
There he goes. One of God's own prototypes. A high-powered mutant of some kind never even considered for mass production. Too weird to live, and too rare to die.

I don't see how 14000 would buy decent rims, not to mention good spokes, bearings, tyres.
The oem rims are top grade DID Japanese kit. The last thing I'd do would be to replace them with cheap aftermarket anodized bling garbage.

I know - I was just alluding to the American 'mine is bigger than yours' crap that you lot like to post on here.

If they are genuine excel rims then they will be fine, I suspect though the 14,000 baht is just new rims spoked to your hubs and new tyres. still need to add the sprocket and disc brakes.

No, I don't think you did know, actually- you like to spread your ignorance around the motor vehicle threads, and it's particularly blatant in the motorcycle topics (I generally never pounce on you for it, but you're such a constant, unrelenting prick that it's difficult not to). How you can continually talk shit about Americans in places where your comments are completely unwarranted only shows that you possess the qualities you profess to despise in others. Stop being such a miserable bastard- it's Sunday- take a day off for once.

I was pointing out the similarities between the bike pic Bung posted and a bike which I actually owned, and I referred to it as what it is (a factory supermoto)- not once did I say it was a bigger/better bike (in fact, I would bet the new CRF-250L is actually the superior model).

    ^

Actually, you wouldn't know, being Marmite the Clueless and all that.

Tell me again how someone with even the tiniest knowledge of motorcycles could confuse a Kawasaki ZX-14R (on a thread that included a huge picture of one) with a Yamaha R1, and then spend several posts arguing with someone (me) about my (supposed) lack of knowledge when comparing the merits of the ZX-14R to the Suzuki Hayabusa (one of which I've ridden extensively, and the other I've owned), and end up looking like a complete fool- that was quite an amazing display of ignorance on your part, and I let you off easy- now you expect me to believe you knew about a relatively obscure bike in the Honda line? I doubt it.

It took an inordinate amount of skill on my part.

Whatever- I would like to be able to post on topics that concern bikes/cars/boats/whatever without your slinging shit where it doesn't belong- sometimes it's fun to play the Seppo/Limey game, but you constantly pull it out where it has no place (on this thread, in the Ranger threads, etc)- it comes to the point where it distracts from the value of the thread itself, and I don't see what good it does other than giving you some strange sort of personal satisfaction.

At any rate, sorry to screw up your thread, Bung- this kind of crap (from both of us) has no place in this section of the board.

I think the most important thing to remember about the crf250l is that it would not pull the skin off a rice pudding. Utterly gutless and not likely to excite in the slightest. The klx250 is the same, utterly lame.

Have to agree with that. It might be reasonable with performance mods but is always going to be a 250.....But this is all there is a market for in Thailand. If you want performance Honda will just direct you to the CRF250-R which can be had new for B310,000 through their Honda "Big Wing" stores. There is a big hole with dual purpose bikes with green books. Maybe there will be 400+ cc machine in the future so us fat Farangs can ride them around too fast.

Thanks, that will help me resist the temptation to go down and buy one today.
That and I went for ride on the big GS yesterday. 85 hp is such a pleasant thing on a motorcycle.

If only these little 250's would put out 40hp all would be right in the world.
